🦠 Flu Season Update 🦠

🤒 Common flu symptoms include:
• Fever over 101°F
• Cough
• Runny or stuffy nose
• Fatigue
• Body aches
(These symptoms can also be seen with other viral illnesses.)

🧼 When is someone contagious?
People with the flu are generally contagious from 1 -2 days before symptoms start until 5–7 days after symptoms begin.
👉 Please stay home until you have been fever-free for at least 24 hours WITHOUT Tylenol or ibuprofen.

💊 How is the flu treated?
Treatment is usually supportive care:
• Tylenol or ibuprofen for fever and aches (you can alternate every 3 hours)
• Encourage plenty of fluids
• Rest
In some cases, antiviral medications like Tamiflu may be used if started within 48 hours of symptom onset.

💉 Prevention is best!
Flu shots can help prevent serious illness or lessen symptoms if exposed.

Although fevers can be high, there is usually no need to rush to the emergency room.
Start supportive care at home and call our office for an appointment or schedule online if you feel you need to be seen.
⚠️ Adults with underlying medical conditions may be more severely affected—please call us if you have any concerns.
