Very well said from our friends at Fillmore’s. We wish you the best!
This one hits too close to home, yet again.
Tiffin’s Rite Aid closed in 2024 and now Medicine Shoppe will close their doors.
Pharmacy closures are so frequent anymore that it’s becoming almost “normal”.
This will only inundate Kroger with additional workload and more than likely slower pharmacy operations (as they also gained the prescription records from Rite Aid’s closure).
Also, in what seems to be exclusive to the pharmacy world- more business does not always equal additional profit. If anything, it’s the opposite.
Our reimbursements are dictated and set in stone by pharmacy benefit managers.
There are no negotiations with these multi-billion dollar companies. We either accept the insurance contract or we don’t.
Unfortunately, accepting the insurance can mean that many claims will be paid under the pharmacy’s actual cost.
This, in itself, is the main cause for pharmacy closures.
When will this stop?
