✨ During today’s Aktion Club meeting, we had the honor of welcoming guest speaker Sheriff Fredrick W. Stevens from the Seneca County Sheriff's Office! ✨

Sheriff Stevens expressed his gratitude for the Aktion Club’s work with the Blue Envelope program and how they helped fund special seatbelt covers that notify others if someone has a disability. These simple tools make a big difference by alerting officers to developmental disabilities, allowing for better understanding and accommodations.

“I think the community will love these resources. As a patrolman, it’s really helpful to have that visual cue to know someone in the car has a developmental disability,” said Sheriff Stevens.

He also shared a bit about his inspiring career—serving in the military right after high school, rising to Chief of Police for 8.5 years, and now serving as Sheriff for the past 5 years. He oversees a dedicated team including jail staff, dispatchers, and clerks.

Sheriff Stevens mentioned how he collaborates with legislators, like State Representative Gary Glick, to support initiatives like the Blue Envelope Program, showing his commitment to community safety and awareness.

Thank you, Sheriff Stevens, for sharing your story and spreading awareness about your important work with Aktion Club! 💙

Huge thank you to the Seneca County Sheriff’s office for having advocate Reuben, Director of CAS Amy Miller, and Activities Specialist Joe Coleman to speak about the blue envelope program and Keith’s Law.

Blue Envelope packets are free and available to anyone with a developmental disability and can be used for a driver or a passenger.

This lets a deputy or other officer immediately know that the driver or passenger has a developmental disability, creating better understanding during the interaction and giving the officer the knowledge to offer needed accommodations.
