Seventeen nurses have officially completed Southwell’s Transition to Practice Program 👏

This program, led by Learning and Development, supports new graduate nurses during their first year as they transition into their professional roles. Throughout the program, participants attended monthly sessions focused on skill development, simulated patient care scenarios, and mock drills.

As part of their experience, the group also completed a performance improvement project that resulted in a 100% increase in scanned saline flushes.

Congratulations to each of these nurses on this achievement and their commitment to providing safe, high-quality care. 💙

Today we recognized Taylor Waldron, one of the outstanding members of our Junior Board of Directors, for demonstrating what true service excellence looks like in action.

While supporting patients and visitors, Taylor noticed the inconvenience and confusion caused by ongoing construction. Rather than simply observing, she showed exceptional discernment—recognizing not just the situation, but the impact it was having on others.

She took it a step further by demonstrating leadership and ownership, proactively bringing the concern forward and ensuring it was escalated to the appropriate team members. Even more impressive, she thoughtfully offered potential solutions, helping to create a better experience for those navigating our facility during this time.

Taylor exemplifies the empowerment to advocate for others, using her voice with confidence and purpose to ensure patients and visitors are supported. She also embodies the heart of a servant leader—putting the needs of others first, taking initiative without being asked, and leading through compassion and action. Her actions reflect genuine compassion, accountability, and a deep commitment to making a difference.

For these reasons, we are proud to recognize Taylor for seeing the need, taking action and lifting others along the way. She truly “Takes the Cake!”

The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) honored Southwell's Director of Laboratory Services John Ansley with The Patriot Award on March 25. John was nominated by Medical Lab Tech Michael Slaughter, who is currently deployed overseas with the U.S. Army Reserve.

The Patriot Award recognizes a supervisor's efforts to support citizen warriors through a wide range of measures, including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.

The ESGR, an office of the U.S. Department of War, was established in 1972 to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.

Congratulations to John for this recognition and thanks to Michael for his service to our country!

The second annual Egg Drop & Wellness Hop attracted a big crowd on Saturday, March 21, at the Tift County Recreation Department's ball fields. Sponsored by Southwell, Tift County, Tift County Schools, ABAC, the Tift County Commission on Children and Youth, and other community partners, this event included an airdrop of Easter eggs from a plane by pilot Dr. Greg Anderson. After the airdrop, kids were let loose on the field to collect the eggs with 26 containing a prize ticket for a brand-new bicycle.

The event also included kids' activities, food trucks, giveaways, and various information tables on local health and wellness resources. Southwell promoted its services and offered free Hands-only CPR classes. Thanks to all Southwell team members who volunteered to work at the event or attended to support this worthwhile cause. A special shout out to PR Director Liza Tillman for all her hard work in spearheading this function!

The Tift Regional Health System Graduate Medical Education program (TRHS GME) is excited to announce we have officially filled all eight approved Internal Medicine residency positions through the National Residency Matching Program. We launch our inaugural class this June.

Our system of care exists to serve the community, and the creation of this internal medicine residency program will benefit area citizens by increasing the quantity and quality of primary care physicians within the region.

This milestone would not be possible without the dedication of our faculty, staff, and leaders. Thanks go to our entire team for their collaboration and commitment.
