The Academy for Private Dental Practice is honored to uphold the vision set by our founding members in 1956. At our very first meeting, they expressed a strong desire to align with the American Dental Association (ADA). While it has taken 69 years, we are thrilled to officially join forces and look forward to a bright future for independent, private dental practice ownership.

Thank you Brett Kessler for you leadership and vision! The collaboration of the American Dental Association and Academy for Private Dental Practice - APDP benefits our private practice dentists AND our patients!

The ADA has consistently supported my independent practice. There were times when I wasn’t fully aware of its efforts on my behalf, only to later discover that the association had successfully lobbied in Washington, D.C., on critical issues—ultimately saving my business both time and money.

If you are unsure about the impact of the American Dental Association, I encourage you to get involved! As a member of the House of Delegates, a non-voting member of the Oregon Board of Trustees, a volunteer on the ADA Council on Communications, a participant in the Dental Wellness Advisory Council, a member of the first cohort of Wellness Ambassadors, and the president of the Academy for Private Dental Practice, I have seen firsthand the invaluable work this association does for our profession, our businesses, and—most importantly—our patients.

Getting enough may have a positive impact on our dental health. When we sleep, our body produces saliva, which helps to wash away harmful bacteria and prevent tooth decay and gum disease. Lack of sleep may cause a decrease in saliva production, which may lead to an increase in harmful bacteria in our mouth. So, make sure you're getting enough sleep to keep your mouth healthy and happy.

✅ or ❌ : Whitening toothpaste alone can make teeth several shades whiter
➡️Answer: False. While whitening toothpaste may help remove surface stains and make teeth appear slightly whiter, it typically does not have the ability to change the natural color of teeth or make them significantly whiter on its own. Call us at 503-906-8600 to book an appointment for professional treatments!

FMR Monday! This case started with 12 months of Invisalign to open the bite and widen the arches. I opened the vertical dimension 3 mm to accommodate restoration of the mandibular arch next year. Phasing the extraction of 3 failed lower molar root canals, implant placement, and healing. Canine guidance was established using composite resin on the lowers so proper function could be established and maintained. The lowers can be whitened in the interim to blend. Stay tuned for photos of the completed case next year! We have a very happy patient!
