Washington Gardens Memory Care Residence

Washington Gardens Memory Care Residence Welcome to Washington Gardens Memory Care & Assisted Living community located in Tigard, Oregon.

An active lifestyle, such as one filled with walking outdoors or making meals with others, is beneficial for those with memory loss because it helps with sensory stimulation and procedural memory skills. Our SPARK program is inspired by the Montessori methods and helps support residents with skills based and social focused activities. Here at Washington Gardens, we strive to provide the best assisted living and memory care to our residents, and give them the most comfortable and enjoyable lifestyle we can.

Handmade Hats and Heartfelt Friendships 🧢 Our recent visit to the Elsie Stuhr Center in Beaverton was filled with laughter, games, and new friendships. After enjoying some coffee and a few rounds of Rummikub, Kathy and Dianna connected with fellow seniors at the center who surprised them with handmade hats to keep cozy this winter.
This outing is a wonderful example of our SPARK program in action—residents play an active role in planning their activities and outings, and lately, they’ve been asking for more opportunities to visit local senior centers. It’s always inspiring to see how these experiences build connections beyond our walls, creating friendships and memories in the broader community.

✨ We’re celebrating a major milestone at Washington Gardens—our SPARK program has officially earned Silver Certification! ✨
Just last year, our program was recognized at the Bronze level. Now, thanks to the dedication of our residents and staff, we’ve advanced to Silver—a wonderful recognition of the growth and impact SPARK is making in our community.
SPARK is inspired by the Montessori methods developed by Maria Montessori, the first female physician to practice medicine in Italy. Through her groundbreaking work with at-risk youth and other vulnerable populations, she discovered that people thrive when they can participate in activities that are meaningful to them and take on responsibilities that align with their abilities. In doing so, they gain a stronger sense of purpose, dignity, and connection—and this approach is at the heart of everything we do here at Washington Gardens.
We are grateful for the guidance of Dr. Camp, a leading expert in Montessori methods, and his team. With their support, Frontier Senior Living is able to implement SPARK in ways that give our residents more opportunities to engage with their community, take on meaningful responsibilities, and live with greater purpose.
We’re proud of our residents, our staff, and our community for making Washington Gardens a place where everyone can contribute and shine. Moving from Bronze to Silver is a true celebration of the difference SPARK is making in our residents’ lives. 💜

These projects are part of our SPARK program, which gives residents meaningful ways to contribute to their community while enjoying activities they love.

Gerry’s Great Indoor Sports Mash-Up! 🏒⛳ At Washington Gardens, residents bring their own creativity and memories into every activity. While playing a round of indoor mini-golf, Gerry decided to add his own twist—swapping the putter for a hockey stick. It was the perfect way to combine two of his favorite sports, while also reconnecting with memories that mean so much to him.

Moments like this highlight the power of our SPARK program. SPARK is designed to honor each resident’s interests and abilities, giving them the freedom to decide how they spend their day. That sense of agency—whether it’s inventing a brand-new game, sharing a skill, or exploring a favorite hobby—helps residents feel purposeful, engaged, and connected to the community around them.
