A Little Holiday Magic at Washington Gardens 🎄 Decorating the Christmas tree at Washington Gardens is a moment we look forward to every year, and this week Merlene and Debra helped make it special. They each hung their baubles with care—Merlene taking a thoughtful moment before placing hers, and Debra focusing intently as she found the perfect spot on the tree.

In our warm, festive gathering space, this tradition becomes a chance for residents to connect, enjoy familiar holiday tunes, and take part in something meaningful together. It’s a lovely reflection of how the SPARK program guides our days, tailoring activities so residents can experience purpose, comfort, and connection in ways that feel just right for them.

Now the tree shines a little brighter, shaped by the hands and hearts of our community.

Winter Greens & Garden Dreams 🌱❄️ Even in the winter months, our residents at Washington Gardens find beautiful ways to grow! Today, Dorothy spent time in our cozy indoor gardening space, carefully watering the tiny lavender and thyme seeds she planted just last week. Watching her focus and pride as she nurtures each sprout reminds us that new beginnings can happen any time of year — even when it’s chilly outside.

Gardening here isn’t just a pastime; it’s a part of our SPARK program, which tailors activities to create meaningful, purposeful experiences for each resident. At Washington Gardens, we believe that tending to life — big or small — brings joy, confidence, and a sense of home.

🥧 A Slice of Autumn at Washington Gardens 🍂 Our Pie Social at Washington Gardens was the perfect way to welcome the season. Residents and their families gathered to enjoy pumpkin pie, apple pie, plenty of whipped cream, and cups of warm apple cider that filled the room with that cozy feeling only Fall can bring.
Karen Silverman, a talented flautist, played gentle melodies that echoed the spirit of the season and brought a sense of calm, gratitude, and togetherness to the afternoon.

At Washington Gardens, our Ice Cream Social turned into a heartwarming afternoon thanks to Dianna, Jane, and Kathy, who happily stepped behind the counter to serve root beer floats and sundaes to their fellow residents. Debra was especially delighted — root beer floats are her favorite dessert, and the smile on her face said everything. Moments like these are exactly why we love creating opportunities for residents to connect, contribute, and shine.

A Warm Welcome in the Making ✨ At Washington Gardens, Debra has been hard at work in our Welcoming Committee, crafting a cheerful sign to hang above the door of our newest resident, Fred. Her creativity and care set the tone for a thoughtful greeting as we prepare his new home.
Together, the Welcoming Committee also selected items for a special gift basket—complete with a cozy blanket and no-slip socks—to help Fred feel comfortable and supported from the moment he arrives. This meaningful teamwork is a wonderful reflection of our SPARK program, which encourages residents to take part in planning activities that bring purpose, connection, and joy to daily life.

Fall Fun & Favorite Tunes 🍂🎶 There’s nothing like a cozy fall sing-along at Washington Gardens to lift everyone’s spirits. During our latest sing-along, Kathy lit up the room when “I Get Around” by the Beach Boys came on—she jumped up with a big smile, lollipop in hand, and started dancing like the joy was bubbling right out of her. It was the kind of moment that makes our community space feel extra warm this time of year.

Our sing-alongs are a perfect example of the SPARK program in motion. SPARK tailors activities to each resident’s interests and abilities, fostering a more active and vibrant community and creating moments of genuine connection.
