In August’s episode of the Tillamook Today Podcast, Dr. Dale Westrom, MD, PhD, FAAD, with the Tillamook County Community Health Centers joins in to share about dermatological (skin care) services.

Did you know that your skin is the largest organ in your body? In fact, in one year, you could shed up to nine pounds of skin! That’s a lot of skin!

Our skin plays a huge role in protecting our bodies, especially from germs and infections. If you’ve ever had a bad sunburn, you know how important it is to protect your skin. Dr. Westrom shares that some of the key ways to protect our skin other than regular sunscreen use involves wearing protective clothing and limiting our time in direct sun. Although we don’t live in the sunniest of places, it is still possible to get a bad sunburn and even skin cancer.

If you have concerns about your skin or would like to have a dermatologist perform a screening, Dr. Dale Westrom is currently seeing patients at the Main Street Clinic at 800 Main Avenue Tillamook on Wednesdays between now and October 22, 2025. Physician Associate, Dove Rainbow, is currently being trained in dermatological care by Dr. Westrom and is also seeing patients. To book an appointment, call (503) 842-3900 today!

Today, July 21st is Zero HIV Stigma Day a day to take action and raise awareness to help stop HIV stigma.

HIV stigma means treating people with HIV unfairly which can stop people from getting the care they need.

HIV continues to be a public health challenge in Oregon, with an average of about 200 new HIV cases each year in Oregon, however less people got tested for HIV during the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s estimated that 1,087 people living in Oregon have HIV and don’t know it (EndHIV.org)

Learn more about HIV at www.hiv.gov and www.endhivoregon.org/hiv-in-oregon/ to begin to reduce stigma so that everyone in our community can feel supported. Everyone deserves respect and good health, no matter their HIV status. 💗🌍
