You're trying to love them, support them, and guide them...
โ†’ without being ๐˜ต๐˜ฐ๐˜ฐ ๐˜ฎ๐˜ถ๐˜ค๐˜ฉ
โ†’ without making it worse
โ†’ without losing your mind

You wonder:
โ€ข Am I being helpful or overbearing?
โ€ข Do they need therapy... or do ๐˜ need therapy... or both?
โ€ข How do I give them space while still showing up?

It can feel like walking on eggshells.
And the truth is - this is ๐˜บ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ณ first time going through this part of their life too. So, be gentle with yourself.

Here are 3 simple ways to support your teen and ease some of that pressure:

1๏ธโƒฃ Focus on connection over correction
Before offering advice or consequences, lead with curiosity and empathy. Listen more than you speak. Sometimes your teen doesn't need a solution, they just need to feel seen and heard.

2๏ธโƒฃ Model emotional regulation
You don't have to be perfectly calm all the time, but showing them how to process hard feelings without shutting down or lashing out gives them a blueprint for handling their own emotions.

3๏ธโƒฃ Create space for therapy (if and when they're ready)
Whether it's for your teen, for you, or for both of you, therapy can be a powerful support. It's not about something being "๐˜ธ๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜จ". It's about having a safe space to navigate the complexity of this stage, together or separately.

Self-compassion isnโ€™t about ignoring your struggles or making excuses - itโ€™s about recognizing your pain and treating yourself with the same warmth youโ€™d offer to someone you love.
