A special reception and tour was held recently to recognize the 5-year anniversary of the opening of the Sister Mary Karen McNally, RSM Rehabilitation center at Stella Maris Inc.

Over the past five years, this 76,000-square-foot facility featuring private rooms has become a vital resource for our community, providing exceptional rehabilitation care and helping patients transition home with confidence.

A special thank you to the dedicated staff and generous supporters who make Stella Maris such an exceptional part of the Mercy family. Here’s to five years of extraordinary service—and to many more!

November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month. We are sharing information about hospice all month long! Hospice is a benefit that is covered by Medicare, Medicaid and other major insurances. Stella Maris is a full time Catholic Chaplain. The Pastoral Care team at Stella Maris understands the unique importance of spirituality and works alongside each resident to help them focus on their individual beliefs as well as living each day with meaning and purpose.

Our ministry focuses on creating a welcoming atmosphere that enhances one’s quality of life. Chaplains are responsive to the particular needs of the individual and offer care for all patients including a special ministry for the terminally ill, following a hospice philosophy.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast Cancer affects 1 in 100 women and 1 in 1000 men in the US each year. Monthly self breast exams, yearly mammograms and yearly doctor check ups are important to catch breast cancer early. If you haven't scheduled your exams, now is a great time to do so! For those fighting breast cancer, we support you and keep you in mind with this prayer.

Our 4th Annual On-Campus Walk to was a wonderful success. Music, dancing, smiles, laughter and SUNSHINE! We couldn't have asked for a better day to get outside and raise awareness for such a meaningful cause.
