Self care is so important and there are so many important ways we can care for ourselves. This is not selfish, it is necessarily.

Hey Fascia! What’s Fascia? It’s the all important band or sheet of connective tissue (primarily collagen) that attaches, stabilizes, encloses, and separates muscles and other internal organs.

🕸️ FASCIA
The technique of Myofascial Release causes changes in viscosity of the fascia that generate a better sliding of the tissues eliminating the excessive pressure in painful areas and restoring the alignment. It acts on the cells of the muscle spindle, which respond with a reflex contraction to rapid stretching, and on the Golgi tendon organs, which are responsible for capturing proprioceptive information from muscles and tendons. The pressure exerted by myofascial release can inhibit muscle spindles, as well as alter muscle tone leading to muscle relaxation, allowing muscles to contract and stretch more efficiently. Furthermore, the improvements obtained after myofascial release are due to the elongation of the elastic component, the release of cross-links that may develop nodal points of the fascia and the change in viscosity of the fascia.

There are many types of massage/bodywork, and all of them have numerous health benefits. Some styles overlap, too, like Swedish and pregnancy for relaxation, or Thai and Sports massage because they both include stretching.

I offer Thai, Swedish, Deep Tissue, Pre-natal and cupping therapy. Contact me to book your session for a future day/time (when the pandemic restrictions have subsided).

The best immunity booster is to keep yourself in great health all year-round. And like most things, it’s simple but not always easy. Regular exercise, eat lots of veggies, fruits and plant proteins (80%) and lean meats, and quality SLEEP (at least 7-8 hours every night). Reduce or eliminate anything toxic (alcohol/drugs, bad relationships, negative thinking, etc.).

CUPPING TREATMENT:
Alternative therapy to help relieve pain, muscle tension or release scar tissue. Cups are placed on the skin strategically and a suction is created to lift the superficial skin away from deeper layers of tissue. This “negative pressure” softens tissues, breaks up adhesions and opens lymphatic pathways to drain excess fluid and toxins. It also stimulates blood flow in the area which helps promote cell repair to heal tissues.

If you have 16 minutes, Alex gives a few novel and common sense ideas on managing stress:
“First, tell the truth. Second, living below my means.... Third, ?” (Listen to find out)

Apparently there is a perception that I don’t have a ton of stress in my life. And to be honest, that is ridiculous! I experience stress almost every day. Although I have a handful of practices I prioritize that have helped lessen the impact stress has on me. When practiced, it gives me the opport...
