Heat edema...
👣With the heat of summer, pay attention to your feet and ankles. Summer heat can also lead to heat edema - the term for when your body swells in the heat due to water retention. Heat edema can be especially obvious in the feet, ankles, and legs because of the effects of gravity. If you find your feet/ankles beginning to swell, elevate your legs to reduce the swelling. Although usually temporary, this swelling may be uncomfortable, and, in some situations, it may require medical attention.☀️

If you have any questions or concerns regarding foot health, please visit us! Call 708-429-1377 or visit www.tinleyparkfootdoc.com today to schedule your next appointment and get tips/advice on maintaining foot health.

Everybody sweats. Perspiration is actually an important skin function—it helps regulate your body temperature and keep your feet from drying out. However, your sweat glands can become clogged, preventing them from doing their job and leading to discomfort. This issue is called Porokeratosis.

The best way to initially treat symptomatic porokeratosis, is to have the lesion sharply excised (carved out with a scalpel) by a podiatrist. We have found that after doing this, immediate relief is achieved.

Porokeratosis can be effectively kept under control at home with the use of a urea-based cream, which is a powerful ingredient that will significantly soften callous formation with little if any effect on the healthy surrounding skin. This cream in effective concentrations can only be obtained through prescription or at our podiatrist's office!

Please call 708-429-1377 if you have any foot condition that might warrant you a visit to our office.

How often should you visit our podiatry office to recast your feet and update your foot orthotics?
-We recommend having your orthotics evaluated yearly, to check on wear, and be replaced every 3 years.
- For pediatric orthotics, patients should follow up every 6 months, to monitor their development, and have their orthotics replaced after they grow 2 shoe sizes.
-Custom orthotics are designed to withstand wear and tear from standing and walking but using them on a daily basis will inevitably result in damage over time.
-Getting casted for orthotics is painless and only takes a few minutes of your time.
-Orthotics are recommended because they provide cushioning and support as they redistribute the pressure your feet experience with everyday activities. This is very helpful if you have arthritis, or you stand for significant periods during a workday.
-Orthotics help prevent pressure ulcers and other foot abnormalities related to diabetes. They also help alleviate pain, balance your body, and align your spine, reducing the risk of developing problems in your ankles, knees, back, and hips.......Please call us at 708-429-1377 if you’re interested in making an appointment with Dr Brian Chiaramonte
