Dr. Joseph Dayan, MD, MBA shares new peer-reviewed research on the Diagonal Upper Gracilis (DUG) flap, a powerful option for thigh-based breast reconstruction.
Published with Dr. Oriana Haran, this 10-year study — the largest of its kind — evaluated 109 flaps in 70 patients and found zero flap failures, low complication rates, and minimal donor-site morbidity.
The DUG flap’s diagonal design allows surgeons to safely maximize tissue while preserving natural contour, making it an important option for patients who aren’t candidates for abdominal reconstruction.
This work reflects Dr. Dayan’s continued commitment to advancing reconstructive surgery through innovation and patient-focused care.
