Feel-Good Feedback ✨ | “Dr. Gabisan is an exceptional surgeon. His work is meticulous, and he does exactly as he says he will. This was my third surgery with him. He listens to my concerns and answers all my questions with great patience. His office team, particularly Roz and Rosanne, is so efficient and friendly to work with that they actually feel like they are friends. They do everything they can to make everything as easy as possible, from working with insurance to arranging pre- and post-op tests and scheduling. I am very pleased with Professional Orthopaedic Associates and would (and did) recommend them to my family and friends." –Beverly N.

Even when the office is closed, orthopaedic awareness never takes a snow day. ❄️

After a major winter storm, Dr. Allen Nicholson was out tackling the snow—and it’s the perfect reminder that how you shovel matters just as much as getting it done.

Snow shoveling is one of the most common causes of winter back injuries. Keep these tips in mind to protect your spine and joints:

✔ Warm up before you start
✔ Dress in layers and stay hydrated
✔ Push snow when possible instead of lifting
✔ Lift with your legs—not your back
✔ Take frequent breaks

A few simple precautions can help prevent strains, sprains, and unnecessary pain.

Stay safe out there, and if snow (or anything else) leaves you hurting, we’re here to help.

Spine Trivia Time!

Cervical pain typically affects the neck, while lumbar pain is usually felt in the ________.

Your cervical spine sits at the top of your back and supports the weight of your head. Because it’s highly mobile and less protected, neck issues can radiate into the shoulders, arms, and hands.

Your lumbar spine, on the other hand, is built for strength—a set of larger vertebrae that carry most of your body weight. When irritated or injured, lumbar pain may stay in the lower back or radiate into the hips, legs, or feet.
