If thereās one thing I know, itās that words matter, especially when someoneās in recovery.
The way you talk to them can either make them feel supported or push them further away. Here are 3 ways to show up with compassion instead of judgment:
1ļøā£ Lead with listening. Sometimes the best thing you can say is nothing at all. Just let them talk without rushing to fix it.
2ļøā£ Use encouragement, not criticism. Instead of pointing out mistakes, remind them of their strength and progress.
3ļøā£ Offer support, not pressure. Ask how you can help, rather than telling them what they āshouldā be doing.
We teach families that recovery is a team effort, and the right words can be the lifeline someone needs to keep going. Healing starts with understanding.
