Our Story
Cedar Manor is a Continuing Care Retirement Community located in the heart of Tipton, Iowa. Founded in 1968, Cedar Manor began when local community members had the desire to provide Tipton and the surrounding communities with a quality nursing facility, and accepted the challenge of investing the necessary funds and overseeing the construction of a new building. These dedicated citizens sought to provide modern, up-to-date, quality nursing care for Tipton and Cedar County residents, as community members of the area aged gracefully. Following the 1993 fundraising campaign, a new east wing was added at a cost of $2 million. Over $600,000 came directly from the spirited and dedicated citizens of the area, who had grown to love Cedar Manor. This addition provided for 14 more beds, increased office space, a new physical therapy room, a new dining and kitchen area, and three Independent Living Apartments. In 2001, Elmar Estates was added to the manor. This area is comprised of six Independent Living Condominiums. In our most recent years, we have undergone numerous remodel and renovation projects, with the residents of our nursing facility now enjoying a quality, dignified, active home life on three distinct neighborhoods. In 2017 a large expansion was completed. This included 4 skilled suites, spacious therapy gym, exam room, conference room and offices. This has allowed us space to now offer Outpatient Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy as well as to expand our ability to serve our skilled and long term residnts. We feel blessed to continue today as a non-profit entity, governed by the devoted Cedar Foundation Board of Directors. This board is comprised of area community members.
