These are immediate post-operative XRs after successful total knee replacement.

The patient did very well and was home on the first day after surgery.

Total joint replacement surgery remains one of the most effective and efficient surgeries performed by any surgical specialty. The historically excellent outcomes and the big increase in quality of life simply are not matched by almost any other surgical procedure.

These XRs were taken shortly after successful total knee replacement surgery performed in Titusville.

The patient was walking up and down the hall a few hours after the surgical procedure and was back in her own home a little more than 24 hours after the conclusion of the case.

I am very happy for this patient's great outcome!

Last week, I had the opportunity to visit my orthopedic surgeon friend and esteemed colleague, Dr. Ian Dickey, at Franklin Hospital in Farmington, Maine. Dr. Dickey has special expertise in orthopedic oncology and joint replacements. We previously worked together in Upstate New York before my arrival in Titusville.

We spent time in the operating room and office discussing the latest and greatest techniques and advancements in the field of joint replacement.

I always enjoy the opportunity to interact with thoughtful surgeons like Dr. Dickey. I picked up some new ideas that I have already implemented in my practice. Experiences like this reinforce my unwavering commitment to continuous improvement to ensure that I am providing the best possible orthopedic care to my patients.

The U.S. Open Golf Championship is celebrating its 125th Anniversary, and Pittsburgh's world-famous Oakmont Country Club is the host.

125 years is quite an accomplishment!

Titusville Area Hospital is also celebrating its 125th Anniversary this year. A golf fundraiser held on May 21 at Cross Creek Resort raised $39,000! These funds are being used for the Outpatient Therapy Expansion Project.

Although I won't be around for 125 years, I am grateful for the opportunity to deliver championship orthopedic care to my patients on a daily basis. I intend to do so for as long as I am able!

I am always happy when I can get a patient back to activies and free of pain without perfroming surgery. I always discuss non-operative management as the first line of defense.

Surgery can be life changing, but it carries risks. For that reason, I spent 10 years in training at UPMC learning the skills needed to minimize those risks. I have spent the last 15 years since graduation from UPMC honing those skills. When surgery is needed, I am ready.

Post-operative XRs show anatomic alignment of this ankle fracture dislocation. In the operating room, I used a plate and eight screws to achieve rock-solid stability.

Patient has a long recovery ahead given how severe the initial injury was, but he is off to a good start with this operative outcome.
