What. A. Week.
Hard to believe it’s only been seven days since this winter freeze rolled in and turned everything upside down. Our entire community has been navigating challenges, disruptions, and long hours—but through it all, we’ve witnessed incredible teamwork, resilience, and compassion.

We want to take a moment to celebrate our entire Highpoint team for going above and beyond in every way. From snow shoveling and blowing in the frigid elements, to repairing burst pipes, stocking extra supplies, prepping additional rooms for overnight staff, feeding what felt like the entire world, and—most importantly—continuing to deliver care with compassion and courtesy… you all stepped up.
No hesitation. No complaints. Just heart. And even in the chaos, you found moments to laugh, support one another, and keep the energy positive.

Across the system, we did our best to create warm, safe, and restful spaces to breathe and regroup. On Wednesday, teams enjoyed a cozy cocoa-and-cookie break, and on Friday we celebrated Fun at Work Day by delivering candy and smiles to every department. There has been prayer. There has been gratitude. And there has been a deep sense of community that we’ll remember long after the ice melts.

To close out the week, all directors at Highpoint Health – Sumner signed a “Thank You Snow Much” card for every healthcare hero who worked through the big freeze. It’s a small gesture for the enormous difference you made.

To our Highpoint family: thank you for your strength, your service, and your spirit.
This week was tough—but you made it extraordinary.

To God be the glory!

This morning’s joyful noise was all for Mr. Hollis Rutledge, who was able to return home after a two‑week stay in the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit at Highpoint Health – Sumner. A devoted man of faith, Mr. Rutledge, president of the Sumner County chapter of the NAACP and a leader at First Baptist Gallatin, was surrounded by the love of family, friends, and caregivers who gathered to witness a moment that can only be described as remarkable.

Just a few months ago, Mr. Rutledge became suddenly and critically ill. After undergoing surgery and facing multiple complications, he entered rehabilitation completely dependent on staff for his physical needs. But today, by the grace of God and through incredible resilience, he stood and walked out of our doors on his own.

Moments like this remind us why we feel called to serve in healthcare. They are powerful testaments to strength, community, and faith, and today, to a recovery that truly felt like a miracle.

Highpoint Health - Riverview is excited to recognize its 4th Quarter ELITE employees, Grace Hughes and Holly Wix! Our ELITE employees are nominated by their peers for outstanding efforts that go above and beyond the normal call of duty.

Grace is described as one of those behind-the-scenes coworkers. According to her peers, Grace is the glue of the department. "She makes sure that all providers have the essential wants and needs from an equipment and materials standpoint." During a recent system transition, ordering supplies became more difficult, yet Grace made it seem like nothing had changed. "She always finds a way to get us our supplies so we can operate at a full and safe capacity. Thank you, Grace, for everything you do for our department!"

Holly Wix, a staff member in the Dietary Department, is our non-clinical ELITE winner, and her contributions are creativity and helping others feel seen and appreciated. The people who nominated Holly said she is always willing to assist with events, special meals, monthly celebrations, etc. "She not only shows up to help but is very creative in her ideas to help us show staff appreciation. She will stop what she is doing to help us in the moment."

Now it's our turn to appreciate these two ELITE women. Congratulations on being a notch above!

We’re a little late sharing this … but our gratitude is right on time!

Last week was National CRNA Week, and we want to take a moment to publicly recognize the incredible Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) who support surgical services at Highpoint Health – Sumner and Highpoint Health – Riverview. Last week, our Growth and Outreach team provided lunch and a small token of appreciation.

CRNAs are advanced practice registered nurses who specialize in delivering safe, skilled anesthesia care. They’re at a patient’s side before, during, and after surgery—monitoring vital signs, managing pain, and ensuring every individual feels safe, supported, and cared for throughout their procedure.

To our CRNAs: thank you for bringing expertise, precision, and compassion to every surgical setting. Your steady presence plays a vital role in the quality of care our hospitals provide, and we appreciate you today and every day. 💙
