It is not a self control problem, or a moral issue but a condition of chemical hooks in the drug immediately addicting a diseased brain. Shame does not cure addiction, hitting rock bottom does not cure addiction, we are in effect shaming and disconnecting some of the most disconnected and traumatized individuals in our society. Addiction is an adaptation to your life. People use drugs and alcohol as an answer to a perceived painful existence. The question we must ask is not why the addiction, but why the pain. At Fuse, we treat the source of the pain rendering addiction unnecessary. We facilitate health rather than fighting the addiction. New research shows us that the opposite of addiction isn't sobriety, it's connection.
