We have a Financial Stability Program and our Food Pantries in Toledo and Findlay served more than 7,000 individuals in 2022. Our services are open to everyone regardless of age, race, denomination or belief system, economic status, or sexual orientation or gender identity.

Back-to-school season is here! Starting a new school year can be difficult, and children may not always have the words to express what they're feeling.

Trauma can affect children in many ways, and early recognition is key to provide the support they need.

The following are some common signs of traumatic stress in children to look out for:

Changes in behavior - Increased irritability, aggression, withdrawal or clinginess.

Difficulty Concentrating - Struggling in school or appearing or distracted.

Emotional Numbness - Seeming detached or disinterested, or withdrawn.

Every child responds to stress differently, and not every trauma is present. Our clinical staff at LSSNWO is here to assist families and children.

A little over 900 people are being served by our Choice Food Pantry at Lutheran Social Services of Northwestern Ohio a month, and we are eager to have you join us in this ministry! A donation of cash, check or credit allows us to do the shopping for you--maximizing your gift by using our discounts etc.

However, if you are a Thrivent member, have a company match program or just love to shop, we keep a wish list of items needed on our website at all times too.

Lutheran Social Services of Northwestern Ohio (LSSNWO) is a faith based social service agency that has been changing lives in the Northwestern Ohio and Southeastern Michigan area for more than 100 years. Assisting communities within a 24 county area, LSSNWO touches the lives of thousands of people each year through a variety of services - providing hope, compassion and stability to those in need.
