Last Tuesday, the Speech-Language Pathology program faculty hosted the first annual Survivor: Grad School Edition for all first-year grad students getting ready to start their 2nd-year internships.

This was a field day event to recognize their hard work during the first year of grad school and give them some advice for the upcoming year.

There were games, prizes, food, and a panel of students who just graduated to share advice and give suggestions on what to expect for the second-year internships.

Participation in the field games was optional as was attendance to this event. 16 of our 1st year grad students showed up and participated in the events.

Pizza and ‘non-sangria’ was provided for everyone and the day ended with the ‘official’ moving of student pictures to 2nd year status. 😊

Congratulations on a year of hard work, everyone and good luck with your interships!

COMMUNICATION BOOT CAMP - Final Week - Community Helpers

For our last week of Communication Boot Camp, the theme was Community Helpers. This was a special week, as camp came to a close and we had to say goodbye to friends! We also had the pleasure of welcoming the Toledo Fire Department into the clinic. Firefighter Gina taught us about fire safety. We also got to try on all of the firefighter gear. It's bigger and heavier than it looks! Finally, we got to explore a real fire engine, even getting to sit inside one. This was a really awesome week for us! Thanks to all the parents, supervisors, students, campers, and special guests for a very successful camp. Have a great rest of your summer!

COMMUNICATION BOOT CAMP - Week 4 - The Wild West

Last week at Communication Boot Camp we saddled up and headed out west! We rode bucking broncos in the sensory gym and played with plenty of cowboy and stable toys in the Discovery room and Pretend Play. Our special guests were the Herdsmen Puppeteers, who performed a special one-of-a-kind show set out at Squirrel-E Ranch. It was a rip roarin’ good time!

COMMUNICATION BOOT CAMP - WEEK 3 - SPACE
This week at Communication Boot Camp we blasted off into space with aliens and astronauts. In the gym we played in a space station tent and ball pit! We dressed up as astronauts and went on space missions in the pretend play room. We built glow in the dark castles in the building room. And on Thursday we went on a special mission to the Ritter Planetarium and learned about stars and constellations from Big Bird and Elmo! Please indulge us as we share our photos from an amazing week of fun!

Congratulations to our own SLP Faculty Member, Dr. Lori Pakulski!
