Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, foster mothers, pet moms, and mother figures who give so much of themselves every single day.

Behind the strength of a mother is often a heart that has carried worry, sacrifice, sleepless nights, and countless acts of love that may go unseen.

Today, we honor the women who nurture, protect, guide, and continue to show up with love and devotion for those who depend on them.

We also recognize that Mother’s Day can bring mixed emotions for many. It may be a day of gratitude, remembrance, longing, or grief. Whatever this day means to you, your feelings are valid.

To all who care for others with tenderness and dedication, thank you for the love you give and the resilience you embody.

Wishing you a day filled with appreciation, peace, and the reminder that your nurturing spirit makes a meaningful difference.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Toledo Counseling & Mental Health.

As we continue to celebrate Nurses Week, we are especially proud to recognize Amanda Turley, PMHNP-BC, one of our compassionate and highly skilled psychiatric nurse practitioners at Toledo Counseling & Mental Health.

Amanda brings a thoughtful and supportive approach to mental health care, helping adults navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, and other emotional concerns. Through comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and personalized medication management, she works closely with each individual to ensure they feel heard, understood, and empowered in their journey toward healing.

Nursing is more than a profession. It is a calling rooted in compassion, resilience, and a genuine desire to help others during some of life's most vulnerable moments.

Amanda, thank you for your dedication, your clinical expertise, and the kindness you bring to every patient encounter. We are grateful to have you as part of our team.

Please join us in celebrating Amanda and all nurses who make a meaningful difference in the lives of others every single day.

To the nurses who keep showing up, even on the hardest days, thank you.

Thank you for the long shifts, the emotional weight you quietly carry, the patience you give when you are exhausted, and the compassion you continue to offer people during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

People often see the medical care you provide, but they do not always see the emotional strength behind it. The missed holidays, the skipped meals, the mental exhaustion, the difficult conversations, and the way you continue caring for others even when your own heart is heavy.

Nursing is more than a profession. It is humanity in action.

This Nurses Week, we want every nurse to know that your work matters, your sacrifices are seen, and the impact you make reaches far beyond what you may realize.

To the nurses in hospitals, clinics, schools, mental health settings, emergency rooms, long-term care, home health, and everywhere in between, thank your for continuing to care in a world that often asks too much from you.

Please remember that your mental health matters too.

Tag a nurse who deserves to feel appreciated this week. ❤️

Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. It is a reminder that mental health should not be overlooked or delayed.

Not everything people carry is visible.
Sometimes it looks like:

• Managing responsibilities while feeling overwhelmed
• Difficulty focusing or staying present
• Ongoing stress that does not seem to ease
• Changes in sleep, mood, or energy

These experiences are more common than many realize and they are treatable.

Mental health care is not only for moments of crisis. It is for gaining clarity, building stability, and improving how you function day to day.

Taking a step toward understanding what you are experiencing can make a meaningful difference.

At Toledo Counseling & Mental Health, we provide counseling and psychiatric services to support individuals at every stage, whether you are navigating something new or something that has been ongoing.

Therapy or Medication: How to Know What You Need

Many individuals seeking mental health support are unsure whether counseling, psychiatric care, or a combination of both is the right choice.

In general:

• Counseling can help with coping skills, emotional processing, and life transitions.

• Psychiatric care may be beneficial when symptoms significantly impact sleep, mood, focus, or daily functioning.

• Integrated care often provides the most comprehensive support.

At Toledo Counseling & Mental Health, our therapists and psychiatric providers collaborate to develop personalized treatment plans tailored to each individual’s needs.

🧠 Signs of Adult ADHD That Are Often Overlooked

Adult ADHD doesn’t always present as hyperactivity. Many individuals experience subtle yet persistent challenges that can affect work, relationships, and daily responsibilities.

Common signs include:

- Chronic procrastination

- Difficulty staying organized

- Forgetfulness or losing track of tasks

- Feeling overwhelmed by routine responsibilities

- Trouble maintaining focus

These symptoms are often mistaken for stress or burnout. A comprehensive evaluation can provide clarity and guide effective treatment.

At Toledo Counseling & Mental Health, we offer counseling and psychiatric services, including medication management when appropriate, to support individuals navigating ADHD.

It takes real courage to be yourself
especially when you have been misunderstood before

To open up again
To speak honestly
To let yourself be seen

Not everyone will understand you
but the right people will

So if you have been showing up more as yourself lately
keep going

That is strength

It’s in the resilience, the grit, and the pride that runs through every neighborhood, every family, every story.

On this 419 Day, we celebrate you —

Your journey.

Your courage to keep moving forward.

Because mental health is part of what makes a community truly strong.

🧠 Why Do You Feel Anxious — Even When Nothing Is “Wrong”?

It can be confusing.

You’re going about your day… nothing major is happening…
but something still feels off.

Maybe you notice:

- A constant sense of unease
- Trouble relaxing, even when you finally have time
- Your mind jumping from one thought to the next
- Feeling on edge without a clear reason

And then comes the question:
“Why do I feel like this if nothing is actually wrong?”

The truth is; anxiety doesn’t always come from one obvious cause.
It can build slowly from stress, pressure, uncertainty, or simply being “on” for too long.

Your mind and body don’t always wait for a clear explanation.

If you’ve been feeling this way, you’re not alone and it’s something that can be understood and worked through with the right support.

You don’t have to figure it out by yourself.

If this sounds familiar, it may be worth exploring.
