Gene stopped by the office for a quick hearing aid cleaning today. He has a new sheltie puppy at home and is loving her! He's also a new hearing aid user, so it seemed like a good idea to tell him that puppies are notorious for chewing on hearing aids! Hopefully letting him know about "puppy proofing" his hearing aids will keep both the puppy and the hearing aids safe from harm.

A retired school teacher and a retired executive secretary, both with mild hearing loss, chose to participate in a clinical trial at the University of South Florida's Auditory Rehabilitation and Clinical Trials Laboratory. The audiologists leading the study are trying to assess the benefit of treating mild hearing loss with hearing aids. As it turns out, both women (and other participants) reported very noticeable hearing, physical, and lifestyle improvements while working with the the audiologists and using the prescribed hearing aids.

Remote microphones help hearing aid wearers in challenging listening situations. Presenters, teachers, pastors, or conversation partners clip them onto their clothing or set them on a surface nearby. We provide annual hearing tests for the Perrysburg Fire Division and they are a great group of people! Looks like they're planning to open the doors of the station for families to learn about fire safety together. It's free and looks like there will be plenty of photo ops for kids inside of fire trucks, spraying fire hoses, and meeting "Sparky" the fire dog. Thought we'd post in case you're looking for something to do with your kids or grandkids this coming weekend.

This article is definitely written by an "insider." The author (an audiologist) works for the company whose hearing aids he is promoting. But, he's also an "insider" because he's been wearing hearing aids since the age of 3.
