Thank you, Sue, for donating your "old set" of Phonak Audeo Marvel hearing aids to our office. We are putting them to good use. In the last month, 2 of our patients have needed to borrow these aids while thier hearing aids were sent out for repair. We just transferred their hearing aid program settings onto your old aids. They worked great and our patients didn't have to struggle through the week-long repair process without hearing aids.

Wanted to share a link to this magazine. You can read the digital version online for free. Content is created to be relevant to individuals with hearing loss and hearing care professionals. There's a very practical article on pages 12-13 of this current issue about planning ahead for surgical procedures/hospital stays when you have hearing loss and tips for being a great advocate for a loved one who has hearing loss during his or her hospital stay. There's even a link on the site to create and submit an article about your experience in the world of hearing loss that you think might be of help or encouragement to others.

Those of you who work in the fields of audiology and speech and language pathology have undoubtably already heard of the passing of Jack Katz. Many reading this post have never even heard Jack's name before, but have benefited from techniques he developed for treating auditory processing disorder (ADP) and hearing loss. Lots will find this obituary - a very brief summary of his life - interesting and even inspiring. It's all about finding a life's purpose, career achievements (including a collaboration with NASA), love and family life, and passing on hard-earned knowledge for future generations to build on.

Jack was born on March 25th, 1934 and passed away on July 11th, 2025 at the age of 91

Many celebrities have spoken openly about their experiences with tinnitus and how they manage the condition. This article starts out with William Shatner's story - developing tinnitus after standing too close to a special effects explosion on the set of Star Trek. It also shares how he coped with the challenges and became an advocate for others with tinnitus.

Tinnitus is a symptom, not a condition itself, and can be an early indication of hearing damage. A person with tinnitus perceives sounds without an external source.
