Growing Well, LLC offers individual and couples counseling with a focus on parenthood life transitions in the family. Counseling is one component to caring for the whole person. Whether you're adjusting to adding to your family or deciding not to, having a difficult pregnancy or your birth did not go as planned. Perhaps you had expectations of parenthood [or parenting one more] that aren't turnin

g out as you had hoped. Balancing work and family and an intimate relationship can be overwhelming. These are just a few of the challenges folks may encounter as their family grows and changes, and we are here to help! Together we can work to help you find a new normal, whatever that may be, we can discuss skills you can use to manage anxiety or depression. We can connect you to complementary practitioners if you opt for traditional or natural medicinal approaches, and we will gladly work with your existing providers to get you the best care possibIe. A little about Catharine McDonald, the founder of Growing Well: I graduated with my Master of Science in Community/Mental Health Counseling from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro after earning my undergraduate degree in Family Studies and Psychology at Towson University in Baltimore, Maryland. Most recently I completed a Post-Graduate Certificate in S*x Therapy from The University of Michigan. I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor in CT since 2010 and have advanced training in wellness counseling, trauma, grief, and perinatal and postpartum mental health. My work experiences include a trauma resource non-profit, residential trauma treatment, pastoral care and counseling at a Women's Hospital and cancer center, crisis and inpatient psychiatric care at a local hospital, disability evaluations, addictions case management, veterans assistance, and blogging about perinatal mental health.

Infertility is more than a medical diagnosis—it can be an emotional, physical, relational, and financial journey that often feels isolating and unseen.

Behind the appointments, waiting, questions, losses, and uncertainty are real people carrying grief, hope, fear, and exhaustion all at once.

Infertility is often an invisible struggle, but its impact can be profound.

During National Infertility Awareness Week, we’re acknowledging the emotional complexity of the fertility journey and reminding those who are struggling that they deserve support, compassion, and care.

💛 Your experience matters.
💛 Your emotions are valid.
💛 You are not alone.

April is C-Section Awareness Month

Cesarean births are a vital and sometimes life-saving part of many birth stories. And yet, they can also come with complex emotions—relief, gratitude, disappointment, grief, or even trauma.

There is no one “right” way to feel about your birth experience. However your story unfolded, it matters.

At Growing Well Counseling, we support individuals in processing their birth experiences, including planned and unplanned C-sections, and the emotional impact that can follow.

✨ Your experience is valid
✨ Your feelings deserve space
✨ Healing is possible

💜 Women’s History Month 💜

This month, we honor the strength, resilience, and contributions of women—past and present—while also recognizing the complexities many women continue to navigate today.

At Growing Well Counseling, we see the emotional labor, the invisible load, and the evolving identities that come with womanhood—especially through seasons like fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and loss.

We are committed to creating space where women feel seen, heard, and supported in their full experiences—not just this month, but every day.

✨ Your story matters.
✨ Your mental health matters.
✨ You matter.

✨ As the year winds down and highlight reels start popping up, remember: not every season is about growth or productivity.

If 2025 was a year of surviving, resting, or simply holding on — honor that. It counts. Every bit of resilience, patience, and care you gave yourself matters.
