Mr. Reid Burgess, age 91, of Gamaliel, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Signature Healthcare of Monroe. Reid was born in Gamaliel on January 27, 1935, a son of the late Hillary Carl and Virgie (Myers) Burgess. He married Wilma Jean (Branstetter) Burgess in December of 1969, she preceded him in death on February 2, 2014. Reid enjoyed working in his yard, spending time with his family, and attending church. He was a member of Gamaliel Church of Christ and graduated from Gamaliel High School in 1955.

He is survived by one daughter, Donna Burgess of Gamaliel, four sisters-in-law, Mary Burgess, Millie Burgess, Brenda Pruitt (Byron,) and Carol Francis (Coty). A host of nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Ray, Mitchell, Veachel, Carson, and Ralph Burgess. Three sisters, Geneva Davis, Amy England, and Buena Kingrey.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Bartley & Sons Gamaliel Chapel, with burial to follow in the Gamaliel Cemetery. Hershel Cyphers and Lewis Blythe will officiate the services.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 after 4:00 p.m. and again Thursday morning after 8:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Bartley & Sons Gamaliel Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gamaliel Church of Christ in memory of Reid.

Mrs. Judy Carter Baxter, age 83, of Tompkinsville, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026, at her home. Judy was born at home in Rockbridge on September 2, 1942, a daughter of the late Earl and Gladys Pickerell Carter, she was the youngest of six children. She was a 1961 graduate of Tompkinsville High School and attended Western Kentucky University earning a master’s degree in social service. Judy worked as the Director of Social Services for Monroe, Metcalfe and Allen County and served on the Monroe County School Board. She loved traveling with friends, tending to her yard, and her flowers. Judy was a founding member of the Rockbridge Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, Joe Benton Baxter, daughter, Kathy Jo Baker and husband Tom, grandson, Joe Braxton Baker all of Sulphur Lick. One sister, June Robins of Greenville, South Carolina, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by, three brothers Dr. Levonne Carter, Windell Carter, and Douglas Carter and one sister, Jean Payne.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with entombment to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn Mausoleum. Brothers, Deven Smith and Gary Emberton will officiate the services.

Visitation will be held after 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, and again on Wednesday morning after 8:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Monroe County Backpack Program in memory of Judy.

Mrs. Margaret Alice (Turner) Geralds, age 88, of Tompkinsville, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2026, at the Monroe County Medical Center. Margaret was born in Jeffrey on July 20, 1937, a daughter of the late Clyde and Ova Cross Turner. She was a 1957 graduate of Tompkinsville High School and obtained her beautician’s license and owned and operated Margaret’s Hair Styling until her retirement in 2019. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Member of the Germany Church of Christ.

She is survived by her daughter, Rexanna Proffitt and husband Johnny Dale, Granddaughter, Marci Turner, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, great-grandsons, Trace Flanary and Kye Rich, one brother, Richard Turner and wife Brenda, four sisters; Cecile Boyles, Dixie Abbitt, Carol Johnson and husband Glenn, Kay Hutchison and husband Ray, Sisters-in law, Barbara Turner, Karen Smith; brothers-in law, David Hagan and Chester Kerr. A “Special son,” Thomas Bewley, and “Special daughter” Patsy York, several nieces and nephews and a host of extended family also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Ross Geralds, son-in-law, Tommy Turner, her parents-in-law, Travis and Kathryn Geralds, two brothers, Clyde Travis Turner, Alfred Turner; two brothers-in-law, Milton “Burr” Boyles, Ronald Abbitt, Jack and his wife Virginia Brown, David and Virginia Geralds, and sisters in law, Betty Kerr and Nancy Hagan, and her beloved cat, Oakley.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with burial to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Brothers, Ronnie Turner and Tim McHenry will officiate the services.

Visitation will be held after 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 2, 2026, and again on Tuesday morning after 7:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Mr. Samuel M. Troyer, age 60, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026. Sam was born in Monterey, Tennessee on July 29,1965, a son of the late Mose and Mary (Habegger) Troyer.

Sam served as pastor for many years at the Monroe County Mennonite Church, and operated Triangle Truss Manufacturing, with his sons.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Doris (Bates) Troyer, four children, Eric Troyer and wife Susan, Ervin Troyer and wife Lillian, Edwin Troyer and wife Linda, and Esther Troyer: eight beloved grandchildren, Landan, Leanna, Larissa, Kendon, Ethan, Katrina, Jaylan and Tyler Troyer, all of Monroe County. Four brothers, six sisters and a host of nieces and nephews, as well as many friends, also survive.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Monroe County Mennonite Church, with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. Brothers Raymond Sommers, and Matthew Zimmerman will officiate the services.

Viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 2:00 until 4:00 and from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Church.

He will be deeply missed by his family as well as his church family and other friends and neighbors. His personal testimony was that there is nothing more important than being ready to meet Jesus.

Mrs. Iva Mae (Bean) Burruss, age 88, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Signature Healthcare of Monroe County. Iva Mae was born at home on April 24, 1937, a daughter of the late Delbert Eugene and Mamie Jewell (Hargis) Bean. She was the salutatorian for the 1955 graduating class of Gamaliel High School, and retired from Key Work Clothes, where she was a secretary. Iva Mae was a member of Beautiful Home Missionary Baptist Church and had been attending Gamaliel Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery and playing the piano.

She is survived by three brothers, Jimmy Bean and wife Wanda, Bobby Bean, both of Hohenwald, Tennessee, and Steve Bean, of Fountain Run. Four grandchildren; April Hagan and husband Jason, of Gallatin, Emily Thurman and wife Vanessa, of Bugtussle, Alicia Bowles and husband Shannon, of Glasgow, and Jesse Thompson and wife Terrish, of Moss, twenty-two great grandchildren, thirteen great-great grandchildren, with one on the way, along with special friends; Jim Shirley, Dean and Jane Rouse also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Jesse Elmer Thompson, and Benny Burruss, two children: Rebecca “Becky” Marion, and Don Marrs Thompson, two brothers, Tommy and Bill Bean, one sister, Betty Jean Grider, and one great-great grandchild, Jace D. Fox.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with burial to follow in the Beautiful Home Cemetery. Bro. Danny Pace will officiate the services.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 19th, and continue after 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning until the time for services at 2:00 p.m.

Ms. Sandi Michele (Curtis) Watson, age 40, of Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. Sandi was born in Glasgow, Kentucky on August 14, 1985. Sandi was the daughter of Douglas Curtis of Tompkinsville, and Paula (Burks) and Scotty Hall of Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee. Sandi grew up in Red Boiling Springs and was a proud graduate of RBS High School, where she played Softball for the Lady Bulldogs and was a part of four consecutive District Championship Teams. Her dedication to teamwork and competitive spirit on the field reflected her determination and heart she carried throughout her life.

Above all else, Sandi loved her family and she cherished time spent with them, whether through everyday moments or special gatherings. Her love and loyalty were constants, that those closest to her will always remember.

She is survived by her parents, Doug Curtis and Paula (Burks) and Scotty Hall, brother, Jerry Curtis and wife Tara, sister, Abby Curtis, uncles, Doug Burks and wife Sandy, Darin Burks, and Darrell Curtis, aunts, Sandra Thompson and Brenda Burks, special cousins, Samantha Ann Burks and James Tyler “Ty” Collins, two nieces, a nephew and several close cousins.

She was preceded in death by maternal great-grandparents, Earlie and Lillie Burks, paternal great-grandparents, Andy and Ida Curtis, maternal grandparents, Ernest Burks and Burdean Turner Hartman, paternal grandparents, Loui and Earline Curtis, uncles, Jerry Clay Burks, James Terry Burks, Ricky Burks, Terry Thompson, Dean Curtis, Delano Curtis, and an infant son.

Mr. Travis Warren, age 53, of Gamaliel, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at the Cumberland County Hospital. Travis was born in Campbellsville, Kentucky on January 30, 1972, the middle son of Joe W. Warren, Sr. and Karen (Hayes) Warren. He was a graduate of Anderson County High School and obtained his Contractors and Electrical License from SKYTC. He married Julie Rowland on June 8, 2002, and Founded Travis Warren Construction, shortly after. Travis was a member of the American Angus Association and enjoyed farming alongside his son and father-in-law. He served as a Deacon at Gamaliel Baptist Church, where he will be remembered for his generous heart, and his great sense of humor.

Travis is survived by his parents, Joe W. Warren, Sr. and wife Judith, of Irvine, Kentucky, Karen Hayes Warren, his wife of twenty-three years, Julie Rowland Warren, and their two children, Bryce and Emily Warren, all of Gamaliel. Two brothers, Joey Warren, Jr. and his wife Angela of Lexington, and Jesse Warren and wife Nikkie of Gamaliel, his parents-in- law, Billy and Judy Rowland, two sisters-in-law, Beth Guffey and husband Shawn, and Suzannah Rich and husband Barry, step-brother, Richard Price and wife Jami, and step-sister, Julie Shown and husband Stefan, along with a host of nieces, one nephew, and extended family also survive.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Gamaliel Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the Neal Cemetery. Bro. Danny Pace will officiate the service.

Carlie Faye Moore, age 73, of Gamaliel, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at his home. Carlie was born in Monroe County on June 10, 1952, a son of the late Jonnie Denton and Hilas “Lelo” (White) Moore. Carlie grew up in Center Point, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and arrowhead hunting. He married Janice “Susie” Keith on August 17, 1970, she preceded him in death on February 2, 2023. He was quite the outdoorsman and loved to garden and attend get-togethers with his family. Carlie retired from the City of Gamaliel and served as a Deputy Sheriff for several years.

He is survived by three daughters, Jennifer Buck and husband Dan, of Vienna, Illinois, Tonya Emmert and Ashley Turner, both of Gamaliel. His siblings, Denver Moore, Danny Moore, Eloise England, Della Palmore, Pauline Hoffman, Carol Sue Reynolds, and Alisa Billingsley, thirteen grandchildren, Brittany, Wesley, Keaton and Sable Emmert, Makayla Phillips, Heather, Travis and Ryan Buck, Jake and Maddie Turner, Kyson Dulworth, and Chelsey and Dakota White, along with several great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family also survive.

In addition to his parents and wife, Janice, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carla Moore, one sister, Janell Arnett, and one brother, Norman Moore.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with burial to follow in Neal Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., and again on Wednesday morning after 8:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.

Mr. Stevie Joe Collins, Jr. 46 of Glasgow, Kentucky and formerly of Tompkinsville, passed away on Sunday morning at Commonwealth Regional Hospital in Bowling Green. Stevie was born in Lexington, Kentucky on November 6, 1979, a son of Stevie Joe and Genetta Sue (Blakely) Collins. Stevie was a 1999 graduate of Monroe County High School and was a longtime employee of Henkel Corporation in Bowling Green. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and storytelling, he was an avid pool player and CB Radio collector, and H.A.M. Radio Operator.

He is survived by his parents, Stevie Joe Collins, Sr. and Genetta Sue Blakely Collins, one sister, Beth Collins, and niece, Lily Mae Collins Frost, and her Fiancé, Spencer Owsley, all of Glasgow. Special friends, Tara Furlough, Josh Mayhew, Lucy Mayhew, Adam Crabtree, and Deborah Lambert, and his cat, Charlie also survive.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Kenneth and Mary Blakely, and Steven “Bucky” Collins and Patsy Ethridge, and Brother-in-law, Michael Frost.

Memorial Services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, and his remains will be scattered at his favorite fishing spots at a later date.

Visitation with the family will be after 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Mary Faye (Whitehead) Harris, age 67, of the Mount Hermon Community, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Tristar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Mary was born in Garden City, Michigan on March 3, 1958, a daughter of the late Johnny Mack and Sally Margaret (Boyd) Whitehead. Mary was of the Christian Faith and enjoyed spending time with her family and had a special love for her dogs. She was a long-time employee of Washington Inventory and had travelled all over with her work.

She is survived by her husband, Dustin Ray Harris, of Mount Hermon, four children; John Whitehead and wife Leah, of Tompkinsville, Margaret Whitehead, Shaun Jones and wife Annie, all of Mount Hermon, and Jenny Watson and husband Jamie of Lafayette, Tennessee; Fifteen grandchildren, Trent, Matthew, and Luke Whitehead, Dustin, Shell, Tyler, Dakota, and Devin Woodard, Brittney, Kelsy, Dalton, and Chloe Jones, Nyoka and Ravy Watson, and Rachel Combs Jessie; twenty-three great grandchildren, along with one brother, Buddy Whitehead, of Franklin, and Connie Pedigo and husband Danny of Cave City, and her dog Sassy also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by twin daughters, Misty and Christy Whitehead, granddaughter, Angel Jones, sister, Linda Jackson, and Brothers, David and Ronnie Whitehead, son-in-law, Sean Woodard, and her fur baby Tot.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. from the Bartley & Sons Gamaliel Chapel, with cremation to follow. Bro. Tony Stratton will officiate the service.
