(AHT) provides home physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy to clients at risk for losing their ability to live safely and independently in their home or assisted living facility. Since 1999, we provided quality geriatric and adult physical rehabilitation and supportive services to both home bound and non-home bound clients. Our therapy program is most beneficial for older adults because new exercises and techniques are learned faster and easier when performed in the familiar home setting. Additionally, we can focus on improving your specific "outdoor" daily living goals. These may include getting to the doctors, retrieving mail, managing trash, shopping, gardening, getting to the club house or even to Atlantic City. About The Owner:

Our Story

Hello, name is James (Jim) Cino. I was about 2 years old when the feelings of altruism were first introduced. My parents would volunteer me, over my big brothers, to deliver meals to our elderly neighbor known by the neighborhood kids as “Crazy Mary.” I can remember as a kid rejecting the notion that Mary was crazy. I felt that she was lonely and scared; hence the reason for the barbed wire surrounding the perimeter of her property and the constant peeking through the curtain behaviors. The rewarding feelings that surfaced after delivering those home cooked meals as a child propelled by desire to continue altruistic acts of service. Unbeknownst to me, mom’s home cooked meal deliveries set the foundation for my future as an occupational therapist and business owner.

After working in an inpatient rehab shortly after graduating from OT school, I decided to take a job in a skilled nursing facility that offered more money. I quickly learned that money wasn’t everything. While working in this new facility, I noticed a particularly demented patient-resident in bed. She was clearly bed bound and unable to shift or roll in bed on her own. She was also incontinent of bowel and bladder. Subsequently, she was developing pressure ulcers on her body partly because staff failed to provide proper care. Every hour of every day, this patient-resident was in the same flat on back position. I approached my supervisor about my concerns about this helpless, voiceless, patient-resident on several occasions without resolve. As a younger therapist, I knew I had to do something more, so I decided to take it to the next level. I approached the building administrator because that was what my professors in OT school would say to do. In fact, that’s what all the textbooks would say to do. To make a long story short, the next day I was reprimanded for “breaking the chain of command” and suspended for three days without pay. This was a humbling experience and at that point, I knew I could do healthcare BETTER. On the first day of suspension, I found myself downtown incorporating my new business name and starting up the company known today as Adaptive Home Therapy. Fast forward 20+ years later and we continue to grow while providing the same high quality, ethical care I sought out to do while standing in the unemployment line 20+ years prior.

Today, Adaptive Home Therapy, Inc. (AHT) provides home physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy to clients at risk for losing their ability to live safely and independently at home. There is no “homebound” requirement to receive our services and we accept Medicare Assignment under Part B. We currently service the Ocean and Monmouth County areas along the Jersey Shore. Since 1999, we provided quality geriatric and adult physical rehabilitation and supportive services to both and homebound non-home bound clients. Our therapy program is most beneficial for older adults because new exercises and techniques are learned faster and easier when performed in the familiar home setting. Additionally, we can focus on improving your specific "outdoor" daily living goals. These may include getting to the doctors, retrieving mail, managing trash, shopping, gardening, getting to the clubhouse, or even to Atlantic City.
