Community Medical Center recently held their first Student Physical Clinic at Toms River High School East, with students from Pre-K through high school attending.

The students physicals were provided by Micaela Sager, PA-C, and Reannah Cooper, RN, Community Medical Center Emergency Department team members. Madison Karpe, Community Outreach Coordinator, and Kayla Marchlewski, Emergency Department Site Administrator, assisted parents with required forms and documentation. Cynthia Green from Children's Specialized Hospital was also present to provide resources and support for any students who needed referrals

Community Medical Center has brought Ion robotic-assisted bronchoscopy to Ocean County!

This week, RWJBarnabas Health Medical Group members Dr. Neil Ninan, Director of Pulmonology, Southern Region RWJBarnabas Health, and Dr. Sung Choi, Attending Interventional Pulmonologist, and trained members of CMC’s surgical team began using the Ion robotic-assisted bronchoscopy platform, innovative technology that can help interventional pulmonologists and thoracic surgeons detect and diagnose lung cancer earlier and with less risk to patients.

Ion uses unique shape-sensing technology and robotic-assistance to assist clinicians while they navigate to nodules in all segments of the lung, and then accurately and precisely remove tissue for biopsy. The technology uses a minimally invasive approach to bronchoscopy, which means there may be less risk to patients, compared to other existing biopsy techniques.

Community Medical Center sponsored a Health Resource Day at the Toms River B.E.A.T. Center, providing education and blood pressure screenings. For those found to have a high blood pressure, our team helped them schedule primary care appointments and transportation.
