The Guardian Angel prayer was taught to me when when I was very young. It is asking for divine guidance and protection. As a child I believed my guardian angel would protect me, as an adult I 'know' my guardian angel loves me and has been with me for lifetimes looking at me and caring for me as a mother with her newborn child. The deep, unconditional devotion and perfect love that our Guardian Angel has for us is indeed a blessing. I don't often enough thank my Guardian Angel for always being by my side.

"The traditional "Angel of God, my guardian dear" prayer's authorship is uncertain, though it was once attributed to St. Anselm of Canterbury (11th century) because it appeared in his collected works, but modern scholars believe it was added later, likely inspired by or derived from a prayer by Reginald of Canterbury, a contemporary monk, as seen in his "Life of St. Malchus.
Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here; ever this day (or night) be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen."
I say it slightly different (as in the picture I created) and don't remember if I was taught it exactly that way or I came to change a few words on my own, but I do know that I love and trust my Guardian Angel to always be near.
Much love, Cyndi ππΏ
