Founded in 2003, The Toms River Mayor’s Advisory Committee on Developmental Disabilities advocates for the education, servicing, medical equality, employment and integration of people with developmental disabilities. The committee serves as a voice to Mayor Hill and the Township Council Members on actions that will improve the lives of Toms River residents. The committee creates an events flyer ev

ery month advertising happenings going on in the area and provide sensory friendly quiet areas at select events around the town. The Toms River Mayor's Advisory Committee on Developmental Disabilities provides advocacy, resources, and assistance for residents with developmental disabilities and their families. We host an annual Information Fair in October to allow the community to connect with resources that are available to them. We also host information tables at community events, hold special topic public information meetings, host monthly business meetings, and connect with the community whenever we are needed.

It was a beautiful morning for the Annual Torch Run to support the Special Olympics.

Members gathered at 5:00 AM in Ortley Beach to begin their 4 mile run along the coast to Brick. Some of our runners continued the run an additional 9 miles to Brielle.

All participated to raise money for Special Olympics of New Jersey.

The Ocean County Special Needs Registry is a collaborative effort between the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office and the Ocean County Police Chiefs Association, available to all citizens with special needs who reside, attend school or are employed in Ocean County. The goal of the Special Needs Registry is to ensure all Ocean County residents who may be in need of special assistance are able to get the help and support they need in a time of emergency or during interaction with Law Enforcement, Fire or EMS personnel.
