Our volunteer EMS squad had the privilege of hearing from Gary Weitzman, Executive Director of POAC (Parents of Autistic Children), who delivered an informative and impactful presentation on the proper handling and care of autistic patients. His guidance highlighted the importance of patience, communication strategies, and situational awareness when responding to individuals with autism. The training not only increased our understanding of the unique challenges these patients may face, but also reinforced best practices to ensure compassionate, effective care in the field. We are grateful for the valuable knowledge shared and for the continued work POAC does in supporting both the autism community and first responders.
