Black women have long been at the forefront of mental health—challenging injustice, expanding access to care, and shaping the way we understand emotional wellbeing today.

✨ We honor a few of these powerful leaders:

• Dr. Mamie Phipps Clark – Her groundbreaking “doll study” helped demonstrate the psychological harm of segregation and contributed to the historic Brown v. Board of Education decision.

• Inez Beverly Prosser – The first Black woman to earn a PhD in psychology, paving the way for future scholars and advocating for educational opportunity.

• Bebe Moore Campbell – A passionate advocate who worked to break stigma in the Black community and co-founded a chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

• Dr. Joy Harden Bradford – Founder of Therapy for Black Girls, expanding culturally responsive mental health care and access for Black women today.
