🎗️ March is Colorectal Cancer Screening Month! 🎗️

Let's talk about prevention and early detection.

Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosed in both men and women in the United States, but it's also highly preventable and treatable when caught early. Screening tests can help detect colorectal cancer in its early stages, often before symptoms appear.

Here are some important points to remember:

Know the Risk Factors: Age, family history, inflammatory bowel disease, and certain lifestyle factors can increase your risk of developing colorectal cancer. Understanding your risk can help you make informed decisions about screening.

Screening Saves Lives: Screening tests like colonoscopy, stool tests (like the f***l occult blood test), and sigmoidoscopy can detect colorectal cancer early when it's most treatable. Talk to your doctor about which screening test is right for you and when you should begin screening.

Lifestyle Matters: Eating a healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, maintaining a healthy weight, being physically active, limiting alcohol consumption, and avoiding smoking can all help reduce your risk of colorectal cancer.

Don't Ignore Symptoms: Even if you're not due for regular screening, it's important to pay attention to symptoms such as changes in bowel habits, blood in the stool, abdominal discomfort, unintended weight loss, or fatigue. If you experience any of these symptoms, see your doctor promptly.

Spread the Word: Share information about colorectal cancer screening with your friends, family, and community. Encourage loved ones to talk to their doctors about their risk and screening options.

This Colorectal Cancer Screening Month, let's work together to raise awareness, encourage screening, and ultimately save lives. Early detection can make all the difference. Take charge of your health and schedule your screening today!
