LONG STORY ALERT:
Through the last 11+ years of business, I've seen and experienced some unique things. The latest experience is like one you'd only see in movies or hear of happening to other people. I'm still processing it. (Which is why I've only just shared this.)
I bought the building through an older, non-local couple in covid times. I invested over 100k of my money into renovations to bring a historic property back to life. I rebuilt structural walls that had been previously ripped out by others, replaced joists, subflooring, flooring, completely redid hall bath with new everything, built rooms and added two full luxury style baths, all new plumbing, electrical and much more. Oh it felt good to bring life back to it.
I hit a pause with renovations while I gathered my mental sanity back. Those renos had constant roadblocks I worked through, on top of multiple deaths and other loss, and navigating masters program full time. (And as self employed single person, I worked full time as well.)
I started my next phase, picked out paint for the building's exterior, and prepared my schedule for spring and summer renos ahead.
Then the major curveball of curveballs.
I got a letter from an attorney sharing news I never would have expected. The people I bought the building through had it tied up in an embezzlement scheme. It had been in the courts for almost as long as I had it financed through them, and I'm wasn't clued in until years later.
I navigated that through legal channels and pursued refinancing. And a UHAUL drives into the building, causing extensive damages throughout the entire building. All of the investment I made to the building... damaged and destroyed by that incident. The building shook with such force, the person inside shook with the impact & cracks and other damaged appeared everywhere. My brand new reno zone... damaged and in need of replacement just 3-4 years after my renovation.
To this day, despite TONS of videos, photos, witness testimony and other proof, I have yet fo be compensated by any insurances for the total loss i had to my property. With insurance delay in responses and failure to provide honest replacement of all damages and loss from the UHAUL incident, I was forced to sell my property at a huge loss.
The sale finalized exactly one month ago. I pray only the best experience and outcome for the buyer: someone with great vision and abilities to restore the property greater than any of us before. I'm so hopeful for the outcome.
That long story said... I'm now strictly mobile. As this was never my plan, I'm naturally having quite the time navigating the major change. It's not what I wanted, but through everything in life and my business, I trust GOD'S PLAN over my own. This major changing of seasons is quite an unexpected shift that I simply am needing time to adjust to.
I am still processing everything that has happened, as I haven't had the time to sit with it until now. Every day was filled with emails, phone calls, and so much more, on top of working as much as I could. I'm still needing processing time that I went through all of that. I'm still being hit with trials & sufferings, including the loss of a dear friend just this last week. God is what carries me through.
I ask for everyone's grace and continued support as I navigate. I love my clients, community, and serving others, as always. I'm grateful for everyone who has been part of the journey and I look forward to what is in store the season ahead.
