SATTVIC SAGE SANCTUARY: BREAKING GROUND!

The surrounding scenery is just gorgeous and peaceful - Nearby hiking trails at Belmont Mountain. The first $11,000 has been utilized to build this dream. The surveying / primitive fencing / gates / markers and signs help to define the property, cease road use by those traveling through the area and has allowed us to define / know the easement of 379th / Camelback Road. This corner will end up being a major intersection.

The next steps of additional Permits / Water Drilling / Solar Pumps / Septic System will be scheduled / completed by year end.

EVERY DOLLAR RECIEVED GOES STRAIGHT TO THE PROJECT
To those who have contributed, I CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH.

My heart beams with every step on this desert.

Feel free to comment or share (or Both) to help this info reach anyone who may be called to contribute to a special program.

Imagine living in a scorching desert without the luxury of modern refrigeration. How did ancient civilizations keep their food fresh and cool? In the heart of Iran's arid landscapes, the Persians developed the remarkable yakhchāl—an ancient ice house that functioned as a refrigerator centuries before electricity was even conceived.

The term *yakhchāl* translates to "ice pit," and these structures were ingeniously designed to store ice and perishable food in the sweltering heat of the desert. Constructed from mud brick and a special mortar known as *sarooj*—a blend of clay, sand, lime, egg whites, and goat hair—yakhchāls were built to withstand extreme temperatures. The thick walls, up to two meters at the base, provided excellent insulation, keeping the interior cool even during the hottest months. Some yakhchāls were equipped with windcatchers (*badgirs*) and qanats (underground aqueducts) to further enhance cooling through evaporative processes.
These structures typically featured a domed shape, rising up to 60 feet, with a deep subterranean chamber. During winter, ice was harvested from nearby mountains and stored in the yakhchāl. The ice would remain frozen throughout the summer, thanks to the building's design and the cool air channeled through the qanats. Additionally, trenches at the bottom collected melting water, which would refreeze during the cold desert nights, maximizing the use of available resources.
Yakhchāls were not just for storing ice; they also served as food preservation units. Perishable items like fruits, dairy products, and meats were kept cool to prevent spoilage. This innovation was crucial for sustaining communities in the harsh desert environment.

Today, remnants of yakhchāls can still be found across Iran, Afghanistan, and parts of Central Asia, standing as testaments to ancient Persian ingenuity. These structures not only highlight the resourcefulness of ancient engineers but also offer insights into sustainable building practices that harmonized with the natural environment.

In a world increasingly focused on sustainability, the yakhchāl serves as a reminder that innovation doesn't always require modern technology; sometimes, it just takes a deep understanding of nature and materials.

Building Sattvic Sage Sanctuary:
A Dream of Healing & Transformation

Life has taught me resilience, courage and the profound impact of healing.

For those who don’t already know a bit about my personal background, I come from generally harsh area of South Chicago, a world of steel mills and hard-working immigrants, but realistically challenged with poverty, violence, addictions and trauma shaped by instability. Through sheer determination and an unwavering belief in the possibility of a better future, I scratched my way out and toiled to educate myself and build a stable and successful career in the financial industry. Yet, amidst this personal perseverance and success, my heart still needed much healing and yearned for a deeper purpose.

That yearning led me to walk away from stability to embrace a unknowing path of healing and service — a dharmic journey - that would drastically transform not only my life but, I hope, the lives of countless others.

Today, I am a lifelong Student & Practitioner of the Vedic Sciences of Ayurveda & Yoga, living my purpose in Buckeye, Arizona. The profound wisdom I have gained over the last 2 decades has been my guiding light, helping me through my own ‘dark nights of the soul’ to find balance, healing, and a profound sense of peace previously unknown to me. My mission is now to share this knowledge and therapy with all those seeking refuge.

This desire started before I even knew what it was at the time.
When I was a child (in the midst of full blown trauma and child endangerment), My grandfather was my safe-haven. I would spend time with him in the North Woods of Wisconsin during the summer, staring at star-filled skies. I would play in the trees and smelled the evergreens and I adored the feeling of safety. I would finally sleep well. My grandfather taught me how to fish, how to make candles, how to cross-stitch, how to cook and even how to build a house. My mind would burn with questions about the Universe and even at 9 years old, I would wake at 4 am to walk to a nearby hill (alone!) to witness the full moon being illuminated by the rising sun. I found a sense of peace from the traumatic world that I cannot express in words.

Those moments filled my being with freedom from the pain of being human… and they gave me moments to cling to when it was time to return to the city and back to the violent chaos.
So, there it began…. My deepest desire to help all those who were suffering in pain, fear, anguish, lack of support and severe trauma. The next 4 decades would be about building myself up and tearing myself down, learning humility, working on patience and absorbing everything possible in the Vedic sciences, changing the course of my mental/emotional/physical health through hard lessons, reinvention and a path of profound integrity.

Now, here I am, 5 decades into this life – wishing only for the next chapter of the original desire.

I am embarking on a life-long dream: building Sattvic Sage Sanctuary, a holistic healing space nestled in the serene desert of Tonopah, Arizona. It is also a place where I will reside, similar to the traditional practices of the Ayurveda Gruham and Yoga Ashram.
I am fiercely independent, especially due to my upbringing. It is extremely difficult for me to ask for help, since I have always been the ‘go-to’ person, I have always been the planner, the doer and the one with answers. All of my life, I have the supporter. I have been the care-taker of family members. I have been the model employee. All of my life, I have been the contributor of projects to help those in need. Even when I had very little money, I still contributed to digging water wells for villages in Cambodia, donating food and clothing to homeless shelters wherever I have lived. I have financially supported clean water projects, Standing Rock, Hopi Relief and Indian Reservations across the country. I have been a top contributor to Go Fund Me's for those I know (and don't know) in times of need. I have contributed to Ayurveda hospitals in India and especially supported the education of women and feeding the hungry.

So with a huge swallow – I am here reaching out for assistance.

This is a $975,000 Project
I HAVE 50% OF RESOURCES NEEDED

Creating Sattvic Sage Sanctuary from the ground up is a monumental task that requires significant resources. The project involves clearing land, digging / installing water, sewer and electricity infrastructure, constructing buildings, and accommodations. It involves landscaping, paving, building greenhouses and gardens. Every detail—from the meditation domes to the permaculture rain water collection—has been thoughtfully planned down to the dollar to align with the mission of healing and sustainability.

To bring this dream to life, I have committed all my savings, earnings, and current property value to this endeavor. Yet, additional funds are essential to begin construction and I am reaching out for this support.

My immediate goal is to raise 50% of the required funds, which will allow me to proceed with the initial phases of development. Once this milestone is reached, I will be able to then fund the remainder of the project with the resources I have accumulated.

My Vision
Sattvic Sage Sanctuary will be an oasis of wellness, healing, and community. My aim is for this space to provide transformative experiences for anyone seeking balance, harmony, and spiritual growth. ARIZONA: HOPI NATION SUPPORT
HELPING THOSE IN YOUR LOCAL COMMUNITY

Comment below if you are interested in adding any donations 🙏

I am accumulating items here in Buckeye for Spring donations to Hopi Relief

The gathering of items last year was so wonderful with foods, baby diapers, clothes and hygiene items.

All that was shipped to me, dropped off at my home and even given to me in Chicago made its way to the Res.

I am doing another collection to be given by the end of April.

Accepting donations (OR $$) for the most needed items:

** HYGIENE ITEMS:
Are you a traveler that accumulates lots of the little tiny travel size shampoo bottles, lotions, soaps, toothpaste, hygiene products, etc?
- Clean Brushes, Combs, New Toothbrushes, etc.

**HOUSEHOLD CLEANING SUPPLIES:
Soaps, Sponges, Bleach, Brooms, etc.

** FOOD NEEDS:
Per Box~
* 1 lb bags of dry beans
* 1 lb bags of dry rice
* 1 ib bags of Flour
*1 lb bags of Corn Meal
* Cans of Soup
* Cans of Chicken, Tuna, Salmon, etc
Beans and rice are staple items, as well as canned goods for longevity/ transport

** CLOTHING:
Children's Clothing & Shoes
Diapers, Bottles & Blankets
Socks & Shoes
Coats & Jackets
(Yes, this is Arizona, but the Res is at higher elevation where snow falls... and families spend lots of time outside as farmers)
Spring is a wonderful time to clean out the closets of gently used items.

I have witnessed the general feeling / desire to donate these items directly to those in need versus Goodwill, etc.

I hope it goes without saying that all donated items should
~ not be beyond the expiration date for foods and hygiene
~ gently used and in good condition for clothing and shoes

If you wish your support to go directly to the source, now is a beautiful chance!

Comment below or DM me to organize any items you'd like to donate! ❤️
