Practice was difficult this morning. I had to remind myself several times that my body is not a failure.

Practice was challenging today. My mind wouldn’t settle or focus hardly at all. It was busy thinking about all the work I need to do and ways to increase class attendance. Plus there were lots of bugs today (I’ve concluded I need to wash my picnic blanket) - large ants, sugar ants, and tons of little baby ants, and a singular brown caterpillar crawled onto my mat. I wanted to quit about 20 minutes in.

So, I paused. I acknowledged these challenges, telling myself they’re okay, normal, and not character flaws. I reminded myself why I was here: for me, because I love myself, my body, and want to take care of myself. I told myself I could do a little more, and listened to the need to focus less on standing poses and more on kneeling or seated poses.

I kept going. Did the mental focus get better? Not really. But I did notice the air more, the grass (and clover), smelled flowers on the breeze, and felt better for listening to my body.

So go outside, feel the breeze, and smell some flowers. Maybe even stretch a little. I promise you’ll feel better - even if your mind doesn’t settle. Namaste 💜
