Meet Bennett Allen Roush, my chubby and adorable grandson! Born at home with me as the midwife and aunt Emeline and Ryley Gibson as birth assistants. Jocelyn was amazing and strong, so proud of her hard work. Benny is so fortunate to have her and Jacob as parents, and Jake has been an amazing husband to Jocie, especially through this whole transition in life. He’s been just as wonderful an addition to our growing family as has his new son ❤️

Just made this sandwich and it was delicious. Jeff loved it and asked for it to be put on regular rotation. Stuffed it in pitas instead of on bread with some crumbled feta, thinly sliced radishes and cucumbers, pickled red onions, and drizzled the extra Dijon vinaigrette dressing on it. It's so good, highly recommend!

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) offer a high-quality, accessible and affordable solution to Indiana’s primary care access problem. However, current state law limits the capacity of these professionals to deliver the patient care they are educated and clinically trained to provide. Today, More than 2.4 million Hoosiers live in federally designated primary care provider shortage areas without adequate access to primary care, while more than 6.6 million lack access to mental health care. In fact, the federal government has designated 138 health care provider shortage areas across the state. Additionally, 33 of Indiana’s 92 counties are classified as maternal health care provider shortage areas where women don’t have access to even the most basic obstetric and gynecological services they need.
APRNs are trained to provide high-quality, accessible and affordable care, but state law requires they sign “collaborative practice agreements” in order to practice, which is costly, time-consuming and provides little patient benefit. Meanwhile, according to the recently released America’s Health Rankings by the United Health Foundation, Indiana ranks a dismal 36th among states for primary care access and 43rd for mental health access. Its health outcomes rank 37th among states.
APRNs are licensed in all states and the District of Columbia and practice under the laws of the state in which they are licensed. Nearly half of all states allow patients full and direct access to nurse practitioners (NPs), the largest APRN provider workforce. APRNs provide patients choice in health care, lead the way to better health care access, increase patient choice and access and are a healthy solution to Indiana’s physician shortage. APRNs tend to be more available, provide more personal attention, spend more time with patients and provide more comprehensive, whole-patient care.
Contact your state lawmakers today and ask them to support House Bill 1330 and Senate Bill 213, which will remove the requirement that Indiana APRNs sign a contract with a physician in order to practice, drastically expanding Hoosiers’ access to care by allowing APRNs to practice to the full extent of their training statewide – especially in primary care shortage areas.

To have the most enjoyable and relaxing experience, follow these guidelines when preparing for an IV

HYDRATE: Hydrated veins are much easier to start an IV in. Drink plenty of water in the days before your appointment for a more comfortable experience. We have water and beverages in you need during your appointment.

EAT A SNACK: A small meal or snack will prevent low blood sugar and other hunger-related issues such as light-headedness. We do have light snacks if you need.

DRESS COMFORTABLY: Your IV therapy session should be as relaxing. Wear a comfy short-sleeved shirt -no tight long-sleeves - and bring a sweater or jacket to wrap around yourself if you need. We have cozy blankets if you get cold.

BRING SOMETHING TO OCCUPY YOUR MIND: Whether it’s a book, magazine, phone, laptop, headphones for music or podcast, or a crossword puzzle book, bring whatever will help you relax during the one-to-two-hour appointment. We have mobile phone chargers, ear buds, reading material, music, and Roku TV if you don't have anything with you.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR APPOINTMENT

PAPERWORK: When you arrive, you will be given registration forms to complete if you haven’t done so already, and your paperwork will be reviewed. You can look over the menu and discuss options if you have not yet decided on a treatment.

GETTING STARTED: The nurse will then place a tourniquet on your arm and disinfect the IV site. An IV needle will be placed in a vein in your arm or hand, which feels like a sharp scratch or pinch. Then your chosen infusion will be mixed and the bag connected to your IV. The nurse will adjust the flow to a comfortable rate. The infusion should not hurt, just feel cool.

THE TREATMENT: Once inside your body, the fluid from the IV bag is absorbed directly into the bloodstream. This method delivers medication faster than oral administration. Add-ons may be given before or after the infusion.

Appointment length varies depending on the infusion and add-ons you choose, but may be over an hour. You will sit in a comfortable recliner for the treatment. You can get up, move around, and go to the bathroom if you need to do so.
