Check out Modern Medical Mafia - this docuseries does a really nice job explaining why we made the tough choice to no longer work with insurance companies.

This docuseries helps explain why our Medicare patient had to pay a $125 copay for their medicine using insurance at another pharmacy, but was able to get it here for $78.00 WITHOUT insurance here.

United Health Group has been successful in intimidating streaming platforms to remove this docuseries, but it is at least for the moment available on YouYube.

Not taking insurance any longer has been a challenging process, but we are incredibly thankful for the continued support.

A few things you may not know:

1) We can do 90 day supply for A TON of generics for only $19.99!

This divided over 3 months is less than $7.00 a month for most generic meds

---- For reference, the national average price for a McDonalds Big Mac meal is roughly $9.29 in 2025----

Several other generics we can do between $22-29.99 for 3 months

2) We appreciate those of you who voiced concerns to your representatives - Indiana passed a promising law that has the potential to put us in a position where we may be able to take commercial insurance plans back in as early as 2026 if it rolls out as intended. The bill does not help us with government programs like Medicare or Medicaid yet, but

3) The federal government is well aware of this issue, executive orders are being made (will believe them when we see them in action) , as well as congress level discussions that seem to agree on the WHY this needs fixed, but still navigating the HOW to fix it.

Avoiding using your insurance for lower cost generic medications allows YOU TO REGAIN CONTROL OF YOUR OWN HEALTHCARE!

You get to tell us if you want a specific brand.

Heading on a trip? You don't have to ask your insurance for permission to get your medicine early!

You don't have to be afraid of some company telling your doctor to change your medication you have taken for years over insurance company profits.

You also don't have to wait several hours to get your medicines filled - we are the fastest drug store in town 😉

**PLEASE HELP**
If you have been impacted by our pharmacy no longer accepting insurance - make a phone call *TODAY*

Especially if you have Anthem HIP, Hoosier Healthwise, MDwise, or CareSource, please take a moment to call Senator Sue Glick (800-382-9467, ask for Sue Glick) and urge her to help us make a final push to include Medicaid Manager Care Organizations in SB140. The inclusion of MCOs in this bill is vital for our pharmacy to begin contracting with Medicaid again.

If you are unsure what to say, it could be as simple as “I am a constituent of Senator Sue Glick and I would like to express my support of SB140. I am a customer/previous customer of Topeka Pharmacy and this bill will help support independent pharmacies and ensure they are paid adequately for the services they provide. Please pass along my support of this bill to Senator Glick.”

“I have Indiana Medicaid and have struggled to find another pharmacy to fill my prescriptions that provides the same level of care as Topeka Pharmacy. I think it is important for Indiana to include Managed Care Organizations in SB140 so that independent pharmacies, like Topeka, can keep their doors open and accept Medicaid.”

You can also tell them about any struggles or challenges you have faced since we have stopped accepting insurance.

You don’t have to say much, just calling in and mentioning this bill will be a huge help.

It's not that Walgreens didn't modernize or couldn't compete with Amazon. The 124 year old company is being squeezed to death by monopolistic pharmacy benefit managers.
