Today we have learned that they have introduced one bill that will take away safe access to Delta eight THC and Kratom amd two bills that will regulate them
HB 2230 (2025–2026 session) — Kratom Consumer Protection Act:
– Defines kratom as a “food product,”
– Would regulate its preparation, distribution, and sale,
– Prohibits adulterated/contaminated kratom products,
– Includes age restrictions (e.g., 21+), labeling requirements, fines, and enforcement provisions.
– This bill was introduced and referred to committee but has not become law (i.e., it is not a ban).
SB 497 (2025–2026 session) — Proposed to add kratom and Delta-8 THC to Schedule I of Kansas controlled substances:
– The bill appears on the legislative docket, but its status and progress are unclear (and it has not been passed into law).
We do not need prohibition. We need regulation… currently there are no laws in the state of Kansas saying you have to be 21 to purchase THC derived from H**p products
The bill we have introduced is SB292
1) age gating must be 21 and older to purchase h**p derived THC
2) packaging, cannot be appealing the children
3) packaging must be child resistant
4) packaging must have a QR code on it so customers know what they are buying and can properly dose themselves so they keep their tolerance under control..
If you believe Kansas should have safe access to thc and kratom
please email patrickorr@senate.ks.gov
We need your testimony so you and others don’t loss access to low dose THC and Kratom..
