Letter from the President!
Dear KDHA Members,
We hope this message finds you not only well but also thriving in your fulfilling career as dedicated dental hygienists’. Today, we reach out with an urgent and important message regarding the future of the Kansas Dental Hygienists’ Association (KDHA) and its ability to continue supporting you and our cherished profession.
For years, KDHA has been your advocate, providing essential resources, continuing education (CE) events, and vital support on the issues that matter most to you. However, the sustainability of these efforts hinges on having active leadership within our state and local components. Right now, we are facing a significant shortage of volunteers to fill board and leadership positions, and without your support, KDHA may be forced to suspend operations until we can establish a full leadership team. The consequence? Kansas members would only hold National ADHA memberships, while the invaluable advocacy, CE opportunities, and community events provided by KDHA could be paused indefinitely.
Your voice, experience, and passion for dental hygiene are not just important, they are essential. By stepping into a leadership role, you empower not only the organization but yourself, gaining professional development, building relationships with like-minded professionals, and making a tangible impact on the future of dental hygiene in Kansas.
Here’s how you can make a difference:
- Consider volunteering for a board position: We have various open roles that cater to different levels of experience and interest.
- Assist with committee work: If a board position doesn’t seem right for you, joining a committee is a wonderful way to engage without a large commitment of time.
- Spread the word: Encourage your colleagues and fellow hygienists to join and volunteer with KDHA. A strong membership is the backbone of a strong association!
KDHA has been a crucial resource for all of us. With your help, we can continue this vital work and further elevate our profession. Feel free to reach out to us at yourkdha@gmail.com if you have any questions or wish to explore how you can get involved.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to positively impact dental hygienists across Kansas. Together, we can continue to advocate and support our community.
Warm regards,
Amanda Knutt, MSDH, RDH, CST, FADHA
