"We can help you keep that healthy smile"- Stephen Chronister DDS
Dr Chronister has been caring for the dental needs of the downtown Topeka business community since 1985. Our practice also welcomes all family members, from ages two to one hundred and two. Our office is conveniently located near all the major downtown office buildings and businesses, so you don't have to drive across town for a den

tal appointment. Dr Chronister also always strives to run "on time" so you can wait in your office, not ours. Dr. Chronister's main emphasis and interest is prosthodontics (dentures, partials, crown, bridges, and implants), but offers full dental services to all members of the family. Those are not just words on a page. Our goal is to take care of your needs in the most gentle way possible, and give you our full attention while you are here. We don't have an "assembly-line" practice.

🦠 What is dysbiosis? Simply put β€” it's when the balance of bacteria in your gut gets thrown off.
Your gut is home to trillions of tiny organisms that support digestion, immunity, and even your mood. When that balance is disrupted by things like antibiotics, a low-fiber diet, or chronic stress, it can lead to much more than an upset stomach β€” dysbiosis has been linked to IBD, type 2 diabetes, obesity, anxiety, and depression. colostate
Small changes like eating more fiber and managing stress can make a real difference.

πŸ§ πŸ’™ IBS and mental health are more connected than most people realize.
A study of 1.2 million IBS patients found that over 38% had anxiety and 27% had depression β€” double the rate of those without IBS.
Researchers call it the brain-gut axis: stress triggers IBS, and IBS triggers stress. Treating one without the other isn't enough.
Talk to your doctor about both.

(2/22/23) New research from the University of Missouri School of Medicine has established a link between irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and mental health challenges, such as anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation. The research highlights the need for health professionals to evaluate and treat as...

The great news? It's largely preventable! Brushing, flossing, limiting sugar, and regular dental checkups go a long way.
A healthy smile is an investment in a healthy future.

New research shows poor childhood oral health is linked to heart disease in adulthood. Learn how protecting your child's smile today can safeguard their heart tomorrow.

Why do some people get more cavities no matter how well they brush? 🧬 A major new study of 12,500+ people found that your genes strongly shape which bacteria live in your mouth β€” and how much. Your oral microbiome isn't just about hygiene. It's partly written in your DNA.
Dr Chronister says the immune system is like a fingerprint in how it deals with all of the 600 or so species of microorganisms that live in everyone's mouth. People are predisposed to fight well against some organisms and not well against others. That is why some people have a tendancy toward getting gums disease, cavities, thrush infections, cold sores, etc and others don't

Oral bacteria are strongly shaped by human genetics, a large Nature study finds, helping explain differences in cavity risk and long-term tooth loss.
