It’s time to take control of your finances! Free Money Smart for Adults classes start Oct. 7 and will meet Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m. – 7:45 p.m. through Dec. 2 (no class 11/25) at the Safe Haven Community Center (101 Lincoln Ave., across from the Toppen*sh Pool). Those who attend will learn how to budget, set up a savings plan, manage credit cards, buy a house, and more—to including how to establish, maintain, and repair credit. All attendees will receive a free textbook as well as free incentive gifts such as budget books, calculators, gas cards, and more; those attending all eight sessions will receive a Certificate of Completion. Please call (509) 865-1804 to register ahead of time or simply show up at 5:15 p.m. on the first night of class.

Are you ready to become a U.S. Citizen? Top benefits include the right to vote, freedom to travel, protection from deportation, and more! Free Citizenship classes to prepare immigrants for the Naturalization Interview and Naturalization Tests will take place 5:30 p.m. – 6:25 p.m. on Tue., Wed., and Thur. evenings from Sept. 23 to Dec 4 (no classes 11/11, 11/26, 11/27) at the Toppen*sh Learning Center (720 W. Third Ave, Toppen*sh). Those interested can simply show up to any class to register, obtain a free citizenship textbook, learn more about the naturalization process, participate in mock interviews, and more. Questions? Learning English or improving your English language skills can help you get a better job, communicate better with your children’s teachers, pass the U.S. Citizenship interview, and more! Yakima Valley College’s English as a Second Language classes meet Tue., Wed., and Thur. nights (5:30 p.m. – 7:50 p.m.) at the Toppen*sh Learning Center starting Tues., Sept. 23. Classes run through Dec. 4 (no classes 11/11, 11/26, 11/27). Safe Haven Community Center will pay YVC’s $25 fee for students who register through SHCC and attend classes at least four nights! Register for Money Smart for Adults and learn how to make your money work for you! The class is free and provides financial information you will use every day as you learn about budgeting, credit, identity theft, homebuying, and more. The eight-week course will be held Thursday nights, 5:30pm–7:45pm, at the Safe Haven Community Center (SHCC) from April 10th-May 29th. All participants will receive a free textbook and those who finish the course will receive a Certificate of Completion. Register ahead of time or on-site the first night of class!
