Today we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by reaffirming our commitment to service, compassion, equity, and community health. His belief that every person deserves dignity and care is woven into the very foundation of our organization.

Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic opened its doors to people in our communities who had been left behind, who had nowhere else to go and no one to care for them. From the beginning, we have stood for the idea that every life has value, and every person deserves access to quality, compassionate care.

We have remained committed to treating the most vulnerable among us since our founding, uplifting individuals and families with the respect and humanity Dr. King championed. Today and every day, we continue his dream by building communities where health and hope thrive for all. Caring for one another makes us stronger, and the health of each person shapes the health of humanity.

Can you imagine a world where cervical cancer no longer exists? It’s possible!

The HPV vaccine prevents the virus strains that lead to cervical cancer from taking root in your body. For Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, talk to your provider about the HPV vaccine, learn how it prevents cervical cancer from developing, and why it’s so important to have regular screenings.

Our final retiree is Dr. Tamera Schille, who joined Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic in 1999. Dr. Schille has worked at her clinic for so long that she now cares for the third generation of patients in families she first saw over 20 years ago!

“I’ve attended confirmations, quinceañeras, and funerals, and I love that at least 14 former patients have come back to work at our Grandview clinic as adults,” shared Dr. Tamera Schille. “This journey has been about more than medicine; it’s about community and connection.”

Our staff and providers have dedicated so much to our mission in public health, helping to improve the lives of the communities we serve, and further developed the expertise of care givers within our clinics. Thank you Dr Tamera Schille, Mary Hudak, and Glen Davis for your service and congratulations on your well-deserved retirement!

Enjoy your well-earned retirement Mary and thank you for all that you have done to improve the patient and provider experience at Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic!

Three incredible people are entering retirement at the end of this year after long careers dedicated to public health in the Yakima Valley and beyond. We would like to recognize each of them over the next few days and share their contributions to Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic that we are so grateful for.

Our first soon-to-be retiree is our Chief Operations Officer, Glen Davis, who joined Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic in 2003 as the Clinic Administrator for Grandview Medical-Dental. Glen played an essential role in Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic being recognized as a Patient-Centered Medical Home in 2012, brought over 15 new clinics online over the years, and helped us grow the number of patients we served from 140,000 in 2014 to 202,000 today.

“What will stay with me most are the countless meaningful interactions I’ve shared with employees and providers,” shared Glen Davis. “Their deep commitment to serving patients and clients with compassion and excellence is extraordinary. Those relationships, and the shared purpose behind them, have made my 22 years at YVFWC truly meaningful.”

Thank you for your dedicated service to public health and congratulations on your well-deserved retirement, Glen!
