It’s Tiiiimmmmmme!😜
Anger—it’s something we all deal with, right? 😡
A lot of us have been taught to “𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦” or that showing anger is wrong. But anger is a natural emotion, and learning to express it in a healthy way is a skill—a skill many of us weren’t taught.🫠
Growing up, I often find myself either bottling it up or unleaching it ALLLL out. But over the years I’ve been learning how to communicate my feelings in a way that’s healthy for both me and those around me. It takes work. A LOT of work and it’s still a work in progress for sure!!😬
Suppressing anger, especially as a way to avoid conflict, can take a toll on both mental and physical health. Women, in particular, often learn to suppress anger, making them more susceptible to adverse effects.🔥
Also unaddressed anger might lead to anxiety, depression, sleep problems, muscle tension, even weaken your immune system and increase inflammation which can contribute to autoimmune diseases. On the flip side, when managed well, anger can help us set boundaries and grow personally.
According to a 𝘗𝘴𝘺𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺 𝘛𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺 article, here are some healthy ways to handle anger:
* 𝗔𝗰𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗜𝘁: Recognize, acknowledge, and accept your feelings of anger as valid. This is the first step toward managing it constructively.
* 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗜𝘁: Communicate your feelings calmly and assertively stating how you feel and why. Starting with less confrontational situations can build confidence in expressing emotions directly.
* 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗜𝘁: Engage in physical activities like exercise, boxing, singing in the car, or running to help dissipate pent-up anger and reduce stress. Physical movement can lower cortisol levels and promote relaxation. Rage rooms are popular for a reason! 🔨🔨
So how do you handle your anger?😤😡 Drop your thoughts!🙂👇🏼
