Father’s Day. What a beautiful moment to recognize the work moms and dads do together when raising a child. Fatherhood and motherhood and not so distinct but yet, both are crucial for creating a safe space for the little ones. I want to highlight the job the of the ones around me. My dad or (he probably doesn’t know what is his account 😂) and my brother
There is not a script to be a dad or a mom and through the experience and love, proving a space of compassion love and inclusion is learned along the way what to do when the kid needs you.
My dad has always been the most compassionate and loving person I have ever met, and I am grateful to you have that mirror so I could learn from his peacefulness and presence. My brother, has been in the journey of also learning his own ways of parenthood, and boy, what a marvelous and impeccable job he is doing. So proud of both of them. Happy Father’s Day for all of the dads who are brave and stayed present with their kids, no matter what!

Absolutely grateful for this peaceful colors and the energy set in this place.

When looking at the orange, red ich colors, I remember thinking, gosh is like no matter what time is it, always feels like a sunset/sunrise. End of something and the beginning of a new aspect of me. Love the faces in the rock I can see and the lovely conversations I can have with them. Arizona to me is absolutely female energy, and the healing of this place is powerful.

I am blessed spending Thanksgiving in this wonderful place.

Recognizing triggers is a big step. And I will say is the first one in the healing process. Triggers are the red flags we can identify throughout bodily sensations to let us know there is something that makes us feel unsafe, untrusting, creating discomfort and uncertainty. Ignoring them, will cause us to become reactive, explosive or even worst, to sick the body for pushing them down.

In my private practice I hear patients saying… “I was reactive to this situation and that created a bigger problem”. The real issue is, people are not use to listen to their bodies, therefore, act when is already too late. That’s what they call it, reaction. But, if in that equation we change the boiling water and instead sit to observe those bodily sensations and then working with them, then the reactivity would not have the need to co exist because the protective part of is, now feels safe.

Body-Mind ALUN, today was celebrating creation, divinity, self care, creativity, love and self love.

Today my second niece was born under the master number 11 at the time of her birth. Same day I explored new food styles and tasted veggies in a different way making a vegan miso soup. Same day we have been at home building a Lego car the hubby wanted to buy and I have been having a blast building it with and spending over 8 hours sitting on the couch and putting pieces together.

Self care and love can be explored in some many ways, flavors, colors and bringing to life love.

Azul (blue) is the beautiful name was chosen for my niece today. With that, creativity and love continues inspiring our hearts 💙

I feel blessed and complete with this creation.

When I think what has been 2023, projects, mountain, job, partnerships and life, I feel absolutely blessed happy and fulfill. And then, when I look at the pictures from all the places I have been and all of the amazing people that have shared with me the adventures Gi MoVal Dan Rampe Susu Yang and Cam, Scott Jedrusiak .ange .wvng (woman trip) and the new mountain friends I have met in the run, my heart gets bigger and bigger.

As a trauma therapist, I value the self care activities that nurture life and bring hope and joy. And as Alma Alun I value very much the body/mind connection that is more and more evident when having experiences in the mountain. Self care is not just going to the spa and making sure the skin is clean and healthy. Is part of it, but is not all. Self care as I have learned it and experience it, is to know the body/mind boundaries. To have scratched skin and bruised skin after falling while hiking or climbing, or falling while snowboarding, and then learning how that acts in the body or how it reminds me of the fun trail I was hiking while being exhausted after a long climbing day, or that big fall on my butt and then knees after trying heel toe move on my snowboard. That to me is self care.

It can be hard for others to understand the love of these activities and the mountain. And as a therapist gets sometimes hard to explain to other therapist without being judged or placed into a psychological label. But the truth is, the body and the mind develop tolerance. When being in the mountain and learning so much of survival skills, life is less threatening. Therefore, gets easier to deal with life. And that is an important skill I wish all my clients and in general all people could have.

Living out of the body now days is more common than anything. The emotional pain or the physical symptoms are just a way we get use to experience out existence. But doesn’t need to be like that. I have spent the past 15 years exploring the body/mind connection and how the body speaks up with a voice of helplessness. Most of the people don’t listen to the body because the mind has taken over creating different stories that fits people’s current reality. However, when we decided to find that connection and observe what the body remembers, then we can step out of the cycle of fear. This memory is called procedural memory, and most of the times don’t have specific pictures as declarative memory has. It has sensations. By observing these sensations and resolving the stuckness, then we live in the present instead of dissociation. Body/Mind connection is the only way we can untied the past, so we can live a pleasant present and create a enjoyable and safe future. .la

Have you been asked by your primary doctor for symptoms of anxiety when you go to your physical? And if they do, are you often confused weather you should say yes or no because you don’t really know if what you feel is “normal”?

To start, most of physicians don’t ask those questions because they have detached the relationship between body mind. And therefore, the other symptoms you are inquiring for are not connected by how you feel. And that is a HUGE mistake in our society and in the medical school training. It is all connected. Trauma has a biology. Trauma, fear, anxiety, are not in the event, but are perceived and interpreted by the body and then makes a rational meaning in the mind. So it should be taken in consideration when doing a treatment plan.

On the other hand, sometimes people are confused about whether they are experiencing anxiety or any other nervous system dysregulated symptom. People think that because they are active, or practice, yoga, or another practices, that should be enough to be fulfilled. But the reality is that until we don’t understand the biology of the trauma and the stress response, we won’t be able to Make a conscious change in the body mind. That means, to understand what is a disorganized attachment, what is the stress response, what is trauma response, and then how can we can learn tools to regulate the nervous system.

Client question: “ So by self regulating the nervous system means that I will never feel anxiety or stress anymore?”
Me: “ no, triggers are often surrounded us. The goal is not to stop feeling, the goal is to befriend the emotional system, to be OK with emerging emotions, and to learn how to bring us back to a window of tolerance, which is the place where we can tolerate the feelings without being overwhelmed.

Self regulation in the key to a enjoyable life with its challenges.
