Tomorrow night, stargazers! ✨

The Perseid meteor shower will light up the skies on August 12 and 13, delivering one of summer’s most dazzling celestial events. Normally, you might see up to 100 meteors an hour, but with the moon shining bright, expect closer to 10–20 per hour.

Don’t let that stop you — the Perseids are famous for bright streaks and even fiery bursts that cut through moonlight.

Best viewing is after 11 PM until dawn, when Perseus climbs highest overhead. Find a spot where buildings, hills, or trees shield you from the moon’s glare for the best experience.

Bring a blanket, lean back, and let the night sky surprise you

New research suggests that forests may act more like living communities than collections of individual trees.

During a partial solar eclipse in October 2022, scientists in Italy’s Dolomites found that spruce trees across the forest began changing their internal electrical activity hours before the eclipse started. Sensors attached to trunks, roots, and branches showed a synchronized shift—almost as if the forest anticipated the event.

Older trees reacted the most, hinting they might store an “ecological memory” and help guide younger trees during rare natural occurrences. Even old stumps showed faint activity, suggesting they still play a role in the forest network.

This discovery supports the idea that forests operate as connected, cooperative systems—where ancient trees act as guardians of knowledge and stability for the entire ecosystem

MASARU EMOTO: The Hidden Messages In Water

Today, the 22nd July, we celebrate the birth of Masaru Emoto (江本 勝, (July 22, 1943 – October 17, 2014). He was a Japanese researcher known for his controversial work on water and its ability to reflect human thoughts and emotions. He is best known for his book, “The Hidden Messages in Water”, which detailed his experiments with freezing water and observing the resulting crystal formations under a “Dark-Field Microscope”.

Emoto proved that positive thoughts and intentions, such as those expressed through words like “love” and “gratitude,” resulted in beautiful, symmetrical crystal patterns, while negative thoughts led to distorted or incomplete formations. In one particular experiment with soaked rice flour that was ignored, it began to rot!

Emoto’s core research involved freezing water droplets and examining the crystal structures formed under a microscope. He discovered that crystals formed in frozen water reveal changes when specific, concentrated thoughts are directed toward them. He found that water from clear springs and water that has been exposed to loving words shows brilliant, complex, and colourful snowflake patterns.

His work suggested that water could “remember” and respond to its environment, including human thoughts and emotions.

Emoto’s research gained widespread attention, with his books translated into multiple languages and his ideas featured in popular culture, including the movie “What the Bleep Do We Know!?”

His ideas have inspired discussions about the power of positive thinking, the importance of environmental awareness, and the potential connection between Consciousness and Water.

His work has also led to the commercialization of products like water bottles and crystals designed to “energize” or “purify” water through symbols or intentions.
