We have some important updates to WIC food packages in the future months. If you have any questions please give us a call 970-238-6645. In the coming months family’s will be contacted by WIC staff to update your family's WIC benefits. This step is crucial to ensure benefits continue without interruption. Hello Everyone,
We at Southwestern Colorado Area Health Education Center are happy to announce that we and the Ute Mountain WIC are hosting a series of hands-on classes, facilitated by amazing guest speakers from the Four Corners area. The classes will celebrate culturally relevant foods & traditions while supporting health through every stage of the perinatal journey from pregnancy and postpartum to breastfeeding and baby’s first foods.

Dates: On Tuesdays July 1st, July 8th, July 15th, July 22nd, and July 29th, 2025, from 3pm to 4pm

Together, we’ll explore nourishing meals, share stories, knowledge, and even plant seeds for the next generation. All classes are open to everyone, because learning how to support moms and families through healthy nourishment is something we all can do.

🗓 Submit your proposal by July 1 for the Indigenous Milk Medicine Conference 2025 (Aug 11–14)

2025 theme is:
✨ Unapologetically Indigenous: Love, Landback, and Liberation✨

We are re-opening our Request for Proposals due to recent changes in continuing education options and to give our community more time to submit. We welcome presentations that uplift Indigenous knowledge, healing, and sovereignty in every form.

We’re seeking Indigenous-led session proposals that center:

✛ Kinship & community care
✛ Lactation, First food/infant feeding & birthwork
✛ Land-based healing & cultural practice
✛ Sovereignty, storytelling & resistance
