I am happy to share with you what I know and hope you learn and use the information. will provide a snack. Just need to know how many are coming.

bring your project, or pick something you want to lean. We will help you. Food preservation, sewing, budgeting, woodworking, small engine repair. Anything you want to do is ok with us. We are here to help you learn and hone life skills.

The homeschool group came over for a nature walk about edible plants. They learned about plants they can eat and plants they can't eat. They learned to always ask before you go on someone else's property. They learned to ask about insecticides and herbicides and other chemicals that might have been sprayed on the plants they would want to harvest. They had the opportunity to harvest and eat wild plants around our home. We looked at several different leaves, berries and nuts. Pictured here is cedar (cedar berries are edible but very bitter, best used in tea), rough leaf dogwood (not edible but can be used for shampoo), Amur Honeysuckle (not edible) and Hairy Aster (edible, but I would cook it first). get out there and look at what is around you. Dandelion (edible), Yellow wood sorrel (edible). violet (edible), black walnut (edible), Hickory nut (edible), plantain (edible) and many many more. you only need to go look. Get your field guide and take a walk.

This is my front herb bed earlier this year. my Elecampane was in bloom, as well as the calendula, marshmallow, sage, lemon balm, thyme, stinging nettle, spearmint, peppermint, motherwort, horehound, yarrow and more. This is my favorite place to be. OUTSIDE in my herb gardens, or wild harvesting herbs & botanicals. Go GET OUT THERE!!!
