I am so thankful for my community of friends. I feel so blessed to have grown up in a small town with lots of connection. No matter what I have chosen to do in my life, my little home town has supported me. My life-long friends are a true treasure.

So i had an abundance of nasturtium blooms in the garden this year. So what to do with them other than eat them fresh in salad or on a cracker? Make Nasturtium Butter. It is so tasty on sourdough bread. I made these and then put them in the freezer on a cookie sheet until they were solid then transferred into a container for long term storage.

Now these are all dried and de-stemmed. I have made chamomile & lavender tea. Lavender Honey, Lavender & Blueberry water kefir. I will be making Lavender tallow and maybe some more Stressed Mama Tea.

I love these blooms in my Sweet Mimosa Tea. if you have allergies, this tea really helps with runny nose, watery eyes and irritation in the throat.

This little beauty goes by many names. Wild Bergamot, Bee Balm, Monarda, sweet leaf. It is a member of the mint family. botanical name is Monarda fistulosa. It has been used as a carminative to alleviate gas or gastrointestinal pain. Also has been used as a febrifuge to reduce fevers. Beebalm is a diaphoretic and that might be why it is effective in breaking a fever. This herb should not be used during pregnancy due to the high levels of thymol and carvacrol and it's use as an emmenagogue.

While walking the wooded path at our friends home, I found these wonderful herbs. Self heal, Joe Pye W**d, Jewel W**d. All three are medicinal herbs. They also had Blackberry and Raspberry briars. Those are also medicinal. Self-heal is an astrigent; antiviral; immunomodulator; refrigerant. Helpful with Graves' Disease. Joe Pye W**d, commonly called gravel root, is a powerful diuretic and helps expel gravel in the kidneys. American Indians used it for gout and rheumatism. Western Herbalist have used it for many other uses. Jewel W**d is a powerful Anitfungal. It has been used topically for stings, burns, ringworm, eczema, poison ivy rash, athlete's foot and other skin issues. used topically can be used a prophlatic against poison ivy rash (due to the active chemical in jewel w**d, lawsone. It is edible and would be a god foraging plant, but must be prepared correctly as it could be too powerful to consume alone. I will stick with topical preparations.

Once upon a time Doctors prescribed "hot toddy". This would have helped with cough, sore throat, flu/cold. So basic and effective. Maybe we should get back to basic.

Bachelor button, or commonly called blue corn flower or Blue-Bottle, growing with crimson clover. Red Clover has been used in herbalism for millennia. It is an Alterative, nutritive and an Expectorant. It has proven to help with eczema, athlete's foot, lymphatic swelling, cough, bronchitis and rhinitis, menopausal hot flashes, herpesvirus I & II as well as lymphatic and mammary cancers. USE ONLY FRESH or FULLY DRIED blooms, Never wilted. Blue Cornflower has been used for bruises or broken veins inwardly, used for dyspepsia and as an eye lotion.

The little yellow flowers in the background, is Spilanthes. Native Americans called this toothache plant. It is a natural Antimicrobial & Anodyne. That makes it great for oral pain of any kind, urninary-tract pain, bacterial infection (especially lyme disease & syphilis) or fungal infections.
