Many patients are told their thyroid labs are “normal,” yet they continue to experience symptoms such as fatigue, brain fog, or weight changes 🧪🧠

This may be because TSH alone does not always provide a complete picture of thyroid function. TSH is a signaling hormone from the pituitary gland, while T4 and T3 reflect how thyroid hormone is produced and used in the body.

In some cases, patients may not efficiently convert T4 into T3, which can lead to persistent symptoms despite normal lab results.

In this video, Dr. Rashmi Roy explains how these lab values work together and why a more comprehensive thyroid panel may be necessary.

Chronic stress is more than just a feeling; it triggers a physical "fight or flight" response that can deeply impact your endocrine system. This often manifests as extreme fatigue, unexplained weight changes, or heightened anxiety.

Many people dismiss these symptoms as simple "burnout," but they can actually be signs of an underlying thyroid or adrenal condition. Because your hormones regulate everything from your metabolism to your mood, ongoing disruption can take a real toll on your mental and physical health.

Listening to your body and tracking persistent symptoms is the first step toward reclaiming your wellness. If these issues continue even after life's external stressors decrease, it is essential to discuss them with a specialist. Identifying the biological root cause—rather than just managing the symptoms—provides the clearest path for restoring balance.

Our specialists at the Clayman Thyroid Center are dedicated to helping you find the answers you need to improve your long-term health. 🩵

Is it stress, or is it your endocrine system? 🔍

April is Stress Awareness Month, and it’s the perfect time to look closer at the "stress" you may be feeling. While general stress can be a reaction to external events like work or finances, endocrine stress is an internal biological response to a hormone imbalance or gland dysfunction.

The two can feel identical—fatigue, anxiety, and brain fog are common to both. However, endocrine-related stress is persistent; it doesn’t go away with rest, mindfulness, or a vacation because it is driven by an underlying physical cause. When your glands are overactive or dysfunctional, your body stays in a state of "fight or flight" regardless of how calm your life actually is.

Understanding the difference is the first step toward getting the right treatment. If your "stress" feels random, occurs without a clear trigger, or persists despite lifestyle changes, it’s time to listen to your body and check your hormone levels.

April is Stress Awareness Month, but for many, "chronic stress" is actually a biological red flag. Symptoms like fatigue, anxiety, and brain fog are often dismissed as simple burnout when they may actually be signs of a thyroid imbalance.

This distinction is critical because thyroid cancer is the fifth most common cancer in U.S. women, with a peak incidence occurring between the ages of 30 and 50. Unlike everyday life stress, these symptoms may indicate a physical condition that requires a medical diagnosis and specialized care to restore your health.

Don’t just manage your symptoms—understand the root cause. If you feel persistently overwhelmed even when life is calm, it may be time to look deeper. At the Clayman Thyroid Center, we’re here to support you every step of the way on your thyroid journey. 💜

We are headed to the Mom 2.0 Summit in Austin, Texas, from April 16–18! ✨Our mission is to empower women to prioritize their own health and bridge the gap in early thyroid cancer detection to help you .

Moms are experts at taking care of everyone else, but powerful women take care of themselves, too. Thyroid cancer is three times more common in women than men and is currently the fifth most common cancer in U.S. women. The peak incidence occurs between the ages of 30 and 50, yet there are still no national recommendations for routine thyroid screening in people without symptoms.

Because thyroid cancer often has no symptoms and may not show up on routine blood work, we believe preventative screening is essential. Early detection through a simple, non-invasive ultrasound can lead to less extensive surgery, better outcomes, and a higher chance of preserving natural thyroid function.

Stop by our booth to learn more about the movement and how you can take charge of your wellness.

Congratulations to Dr. Rashmi Roy and her team of researchers on their newly published thyroid health study!

Their work highlights a critical gap in women’s healthcare: the lack of routine thyroid cancer screening. Currently, medical guidelines emphasize the importance of regular screenings for breast, cervical, and colorectal cancers. However, no such national standard exists for the thyroid—despite thyroid cancer being the fifth most common cancer in U.S. women.

Key findings from this study suggest that implementing routine, non-invasive ultrasound screening—similar to a routine mammogram—provides a vital opportunity for early-stage diagnosis. By catching thyroid issues early, patients can often undergo less extensive surgery, reduce the need for lifelong hormone replacement, and avoid treatments like radioactive iodine. It’s time to make thyroid health a standard part of preventative care for women.

Be sure to follow Dr. Roy to stay updated as we pave the way for thyroid health screenings and women’s health advocacy. 💜

If you’ve been told you have a thyroid nodule, the next step may be a fine needle aspiration (FNA) biopsy, a simple, highly effective way to determine if cancer is present.

FNA uses a thin needle and ultrasound guidance to collect a small sample of cells from the thyroid nodule (or nearby lymph nodes). These cells are then analyzed under a microscope by an expert cytologist to determine whether they are benign or cancerous.

Not every thyroid nodule needs a biopsy, but those that are large, symptomatic, or appear suspicious on imaging should be evaluated. The goal is clear: identify the small percentage of nodules that are cancerous while avoiding unnecessary procedures for those that are not.

FNA is quick, safe, and typically done right in the doctor’s office, making it a key tool in accurate thyroid diagnosis and treatment planning.
