Boaz & Ruth Part 3: So just maybe 🤔 you thought my point about this story was just about the importance of a man’s right to his autonomy of choice. That’s a big part and a man’s ability to sit in his power with wisdom comes first because Boaz was already established before Ruth showed up on the scene. But let’s not get confused as women our highest calling is to understand the power of what we submit to and what our own inherent healthy rights and choices are even before we ever surrender ourselves to a potential set of power. Women were made to create order out of things that need to be birthed. See past the superficial to the deeper meaning that resonates in this moment today. You get to choose

So it’s voting season yall. I made the Early Voting Window and it was amazing how they improved the process to make it streamlined and give people options about how they felt comfortable voting. Paper ballots, electronic ballots, mail in ballots, and right there electronic counting machines while you watched oh my.
What I will encourage people to do is please vote and think about 2 things.
1 what are your local needs and wants for your household? How you love yourself?What ways do you need support from your state’s laws and policies? For MD there are some major questions on our ballot that will positively impact your local community. Go checkout those questions. 2 what are your more Macro, bigger, country wide wants and needs? How do you love your neighbor? Who you vote for on the Federal level represents the views of what our country wants and needs are as a whole to respect and honor each other even as we are different. And don’t worry if those two things are different party views. It’s a great thing to put people from different perspectives in one space to work together for a common purpose. Let’s hold them accountable to do just that. This is the How we work together perspective🥰

So I realized I was withholding some of my truth in the Ruth and Boaz story. I want to stand in my authenticity and just let it all out. Well the parts that will lead the way towards what’s coming. One of the underlying points of the story is around s*xuality. Ruth’s willingness to lay herself down literally. Boaz’s determination to do all things by the letter of the law. What would you say if I make a point that there are many of these cross sections between different s*xualities in the Bible? And that scriptures that condemn s*x of some form are really making a point about how it’s not about s*x at all but what’s manifesting in the spirit as being off balance or missing the mark of an individual’s healthy connection with their own s*xuality? Or they’re something or other else that is being deflected by the redirection towards s*x. 🤯 think about it. When did Jesus entertain a conversation with someone about s*x? Each time certain topics came up he would redirect the conversation to a higher point. I think Jesus is saying eww, you looking at the holy manifestation of God and all you can think about. All you can talk about is s*x? Where’s your balance? Where’s your healthy s*xuality that doesn’t even need to be talked about?

Part 2- Boaz (Ruth Ch1-Ch4)

In this story Boaz already had a good sense of himself. His identity. His pride. His work ethic. His connection with the law of his people. That’s why his reply to Ruth was so seamless. He wanted her but not like that. He called her virtuous and wouldn’t let her submit that way. He wouldn’t let her leave his tent 😂 but he wouldn’t take her s*xually and hide her from others view when she left. He went to the elders to learn how to follow the laws of his people and elevate her to his wife. He succeeded and went so far as to purchase her deceased husband’s everything including her. Then by law he could do whatever he wanted with her. He choose to marry her. Now that’s dominance and certainty in who you are. That’s control and patience. What would a man who desires this in his life and for things he calls his own do if a woman forced his yes? Took his ability to even seek out healthy support to find his way? What does a marriage look like where the union is already based on an unhealthy none conscious consent? This can be very dangerous for a man to be unsure of himself. Of his feelings and be pushed to be what someone else wants. Pushed to sit in the worse parts of himself. My men. My masculine energy individuals. Take ownership of your no. Let yourself have feelings. Give yourself permission to understand your dominance and recognize that sometimes you need your own submission within yourself in order to recognize when something is or isn’t for you

So here’s a bit of me and what Pastoral Counseling is about from my perspective as a holistic mental health therapist with Christian roots to my bones. We will do this one in 2 Parts.

Part 1: Ruth (Ruth Ch1-Ch4)

Ruth was a widowed woman from another tribe and yet she choices to stay with her mother in law Naomi. At a time where they had no male to take care of their needs. And they had a journey to find community. They went. Ladies doesn’t this sound familiar. Wanting a companion and healthy relationship. That alone feeling but knowing you’re on a path that feels right to get you there. They went to a town where Naomi had distant family, Boaz family, and it was harvest time. So they might find a way to survive. Ruth went to that farm and picked the scraps to feed them. The only woman there so everyone noticed. She put down her pride and put in her works. Boaz noticed. He made sure she had more to reap. And he offered her his distant protection of his farm being a safe space for her to work. He saw her value. Ruth told Naomi. With time Naomi noticed there was more there then just respect. And Boaz wont do anything about it. Naomi counseled her to go to his bed and lay at it’s foot. She submitted her vulnerability and her strength to him without permission to provoke a response. Submission can be powerful but dangerous. Ladies how many times have you submitted to a thing that wasn’t for you or good for you? How many times does wanting turn into appealing to force a reaction? Is this consent? Full conscious consent goes both ways. Making a man do what you want isn’t love or healthy relationship. In this context Boaz won’t accept her submission. He was afraid of what she had done and what it meant that could be negative to both of their inherent values. He let her just sleep and covered her up to leave in the morning before he met with the elders. True healthy two way consent doesn’t create discord or pain. Even in imperfection is resolves. It protects. My ladies. My feminine energy individuals. We must take ownership of our submission and know when it’s time to get up or not even offer submission in the first place. Not all men can say no. Not all men understand their power enough to help you find what your submission means
