Welcome to our team Amy!
We are so excited to have Amy Leonard joining our team as our medical billing assistant.
Amy recently relocated to Baltimore from Nashville, TN with her husband and two daughters. She is a License Practical Nurse with over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry. She has held various roles in focus areas such as clinical operations, utilization review, care management, revenue cycle management, nursing informatics, and compliance. She has also worked in a variety of clinical settings including acute care, inpatient rehab, and neurology. Amy enjoys practicing yoga, traveling and reading in her spare time.

As our clinic has continued to grow, Kids Thrive Therapy is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Medical Billing Office Assistant to support our pediatric occupational therapy team. This role is essential in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of insurance and billing operations, authorizations, and therapist support. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a willingness to learn, and the ability to manage multiple administrative and billing-related tasks in addition to assisting with general clinic operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Insurance & Benefits Verification

Request and follow up on insurance authorizations for therapy services

Billing & EOBs - Assist with accounts receivable (AR) follow-up under supervision and training.

Interface with therapists for questions related to billing, insurance, CPT codes, ICD-10 codes, and visit limits.

Collaborate with front desk and billing team to ensure smooth workflow and optimal patient care support.

Provide support within the clinic as needed for daily operations.

Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or coursework in medical billing/coding preferred.
• Preferred 1+ years of experience in medical billing or administrative support, preferably in outpatient therapy or pediatric settings.
• Knowledge of CareFirst, insurance processes, CPT/ICD-10 coding, and EOB interpretation is a plus.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR), especially Ensora/Fusion, is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.
