Keely Cat-Wells brought the energy to ! Her keynote was a powerful reminder that disability is a driver of change, not a limitation. We’re grateful for her bold call to action and her vision for authentic inclusion and leadership.

Day 2 of the NCIL Conference was packed with learning and inspiration!

We spent the day attending workshops and celebrating Maryland’s own Janice Jackson, our Board Chair, a college professor, nonprofit founder, and Presidential Citizens Medal honoree, who was presented with the Judy Heumann Award at the awards luncheon. Janice also serves as Secretary of the Maryland Statewide Independent Living Council.

Using the metaphor of “Boots on the Ground,” Janice delivered a powerful message: we must unite and activate to ensure people with disabilities have access, independence, and quality of life.

We’re so proud to be part of her leadership and legacy.

Scenes from Day 1 at !

We’re proud to share a few highlights from the opening day of the 2025 National Council on Independent Living Conference, where our friends from the Maryland Statewide Independent Living Council (Maryland SILC) launched the inspiring CUP Campaign – “Courage to Use your Power.”

Pictured here is Lorna-Mae Silcott representing the Maryland SILC, promoting the campaign with bracelets, a custom trophy, and the debut of the CUP Campaign song! The campaign invites us all to step into our power and raise our voices.

Also featured: a powerful opening plenary session with keynote speaker Keri Gray.

Stay tuned for more scenes from today and the rest of the week. We’re just getting started!
